I've been wheeling every spoke I was dealt;
I've been healing folks who can't tell, yet.

I bet the real deal will seal by their own blank checks

And even when I sing it's hard, for I forget to breathe.
Then my belly gets tight so I send smoke down my lungs;
I let chemicals pump me up a shortcut toward light,
But even where it takes me there are barriers in sight:
I trip over tree stumps, I slip on cans of Sprite,
I step by social geniuses never taught to hustle right.

Yeah I am tired of twisting my wrist just to document the last talk I spent
Explaining to a battered mother that she can’t feed her kids
’Cause the State won’t consider her a person till she’sbeen here for five years.
She grew up praying for any slum plate free of tapeworms,
But her stomach is still like mine.
Only right now for her, light means something else:
It’s a bill with a deadline.
See ’cause Edison knew little about commonwealth.
He was a master of mass-production, not welfare.
He marketed electric chairs just to sell AC over DC,
Charges overflowing like me seated at my desk,
Energy depleting as my muscles compress...

But never-the-less I am blessed.
See ’cause got I friends who get true progress;
They express beauty to relieve my stress.
They are gonna ignite the love-weeds in my chest
And press them to a bill of light guaranteed by Congress!
They are gonna paint until billboards help me breathe more and hurt less.

It’s a steep, long climb but we’ll keep along fine so long as I do it for them to too.
This is where it turns to you:
Have you learned from the earth’s axis that we share the same spine?
It’s not merely mine;
If you wanna stay standing we gotta help it stay aligned.
You gotta make things rhyme wherever you go,
Streamline your flow to whomever needs it most,
Disclose your soul like a romance dropping seeds down the block;
You gotta dance to the tick-tock.

So what if we walked in the grass?
Don’t be alarmed the ashes and soot
’Cause in every crack you pass,
Love grows underfoot.
