Sovereign Sequence Mix

23 years ago the KLF announced they were leaving the music business. They deleted their back catalogue and burned £1m on a remote island in Scotland. This mixumentary tells their story; a strange and often chaotic tale traversing hip hop, gospel, trance, techno, ambient, house and pop amongst other things. It is my tribute to the band that produced the first single I ever bought, a tribute to a band that, despite becoming the largest selling singles act in the world, remain largely forgotten.

KLF: Embrace The Contradictions

I discovered a strange cat-like purring sound coming from the corner of the bedroom. The next day I discovered loads of wasps entering the house through a hole in the wall outside, they have built a nest in the cavity between the ceiling and the floorboards, possibly 2 - 3 square feet in size judging by the sound coming up through the carpet in the bedroom. This is the strange sound they make, particularly during the night. 

Recorded with 2 x Sennheiser MKH 8020 omni mikes into a Sound Devices 702 recorder. The mikes were placed on the floor and covered with a pillow and some weights, in order to get a better physical contact with the floor and reduce ambient noise, although this was recorded at night when there is very little going on outside, so what you can hear in this recording is the wasps.

Captured with a mid-side rig consisting of Sennheiser MKH 8020/MKH 30 mikes housed in a Rycote blimp with Rainman rain cover, recorded on a Sound Devices 702. (Photo is actually weather forecast from Friday 7th June 1996).

This is the recording of the first two hours of our dj set on Galactic Jungle art car in deep playa of Burning Man for the gathering of All Your Friends party.
