After a killer vinyl debut on Piccadilly favourites Aficionado and a serious sophomore release on Music For Dreams, A Vision Of Panorama returns on his own Mellophonia imprint with six coastal grooves for summer moods. "Floral Rhythm" opens the set with blossoming keys, lilting rhythms and a bouyant bassline, overpowering your senses with the lush atmosphere of tropical horticulture. "Seaside Tune" sees the producer slow the tempo and indulge in a spot of diasporic downbeat, layering the yearning chord progression with a combination of Chinese and Caribbean melodies. Closing the A-side out with the dancefloor in mind, Mikhail delivers "Blues 909", a head nodding fusion of compass point instrumentation and pitched down proto house that'll loosen the early doors crowd up no problems before "Heartbeat" takes the night to its next level. A solid beat underpins layer after layer of killer melody played on xylophone, marimba, guitar and arp, while the irresistible Burrell-esque bassline moves those hips like an orthopaedic surgeon. "Message From Library" follows on with the leftfield funk and steady backbeat you'd expect of a KPM classic, marrying stargazing vocoder with cinematic strings, before the stunning "Mosaic Xylos" closes the set out. As beautiful as its name, this Balearic dream brings to mind "C'est La Oate" and "TV Scene" with its sunkissed groove and future primitive instrumentation. Classy, cool and refreshing, this EP is the perfect soundtrack for summer, and yet another essential release from A Vision Of Panorama.

We came across Marlborough UK, based producer Tom Jarmey amidst taking a break from studying a degree in Geography. Like most students taking a gap year, he found himself in the classic pilgrimage across South-East Asia - and we assume preparing for which may have had some influence on the particular brand of heartwarming house vibes heard on Tom’s debut EP “Beach Jazz”.

Smooth AF with swirling bird chirps, rambling chats and guitar licks for day, it's no surprise “Beach Jazz ft. MarBlu” clocked up half a million plays on its Youtube premiere. From there, Jarmey takes a sharp turn heading for the vibe equator with the heavy lifting “Fiji” (resplendent with distorted percussion and a break beat bass twist), before heading once again into daylight territory with EP closer “What Does Honey Taste Like” - all luscious pads and sun soaked strings and a groove that reaffirms (for us at least) that Tom Jarmey not be a name soon forgotten.

Tom Jarmey - Beach Jazz  ft. MarBlu [CLIPP017]

Returning to Beats in Space after their debut 12" (and the label's debut release) in the fall of 2011, Paradis offers "Hémisphère" and "Je m'ennuie", another pair of sophisticatedly crafted, noir-pop songs from the young Parisian duo. 

On the two tracks of their second 12", Paradis self-reflect to find an escape hatch away from themselves. The A-Side, "Hémisphère", a macabre story of a lonely guest of life determined to leave everything behind, defies the narrative's convention and captivates with pop melodies and up beats abound. 

On the B-Side, "Je M'ennuie", lovers settle into late-night melancholic routines soundtracked by a brooding bass line, an achingly affective synth lead, and vocals that grin behind the disaffected front. Ultimately, hope prevails as both tracks beg the listener to leave their headphones behind for the global village's dance floor. From Paris to Cologne, from Buenos Aires to New York, in the words of Michel Polnareff, "On ira tous au Paradis." 

Each 12" from Beats in Space features original artwork in considerate & serial form. The first 12" features artwork by Denise Kupferschmidt, a Brooklyn-based artist finding inner / outer space in the movement of line and assemblage of color. The 12" packaging constructed by Will Work For Good features a vinyl BIS logo cling. The 12" will be available on May 22nd, 2012 from fine retailers worldwide. The digital version will be available May 29th, 2012 from the drab internet universe.
