Robert Yerachmiel Sniderman enacted Lost in Jüdische Friedhof Weißensee, a durational site-specific performance, from April to September 2018. The project site is the largest intact and active Jewish cemetery in postwar Europe. Sniderman contemplated its spatial, urban geographical, and historical implications with his body, by leaning upon a methodology of lostness within the daily act of being inside or not being inside the site. He worked with and within it from varying proximities, according to varying constraints, materials, and collaborations, to compose, enact, and let ferment ritual actions against the racist instrumentalization of Jewish presence. Lost in Jüdische Friedhof Weißensee was supported by the Institute for Art in Context of the Berlin University of the Arts and the DAAD.

Robert Yerachmiel Sniderman is a poet, curator, and visual and performance artist. From 2016-2018, he worked as a curator and director of education at the Jewish History Museum and Holocaust History Center of Tucson, where he initiated intersectional programming, curricula, exhibitions, and community collaborations on forced removal, legislative racism, and interethnic resistance. His most recent project, Lost in Jüdische Friedhof Weißensee, will be exhibited throughout 2019 at the Center for the Arts at the University at Buffalo and Western Gallery at Western Washington University. Based in Bellingham, Washington, he serves as an editor of the radical Jewish quarterly, Protocols.
