We are back in 2013.
Beginning of 2012 a new name appeared on the international dancefloor: CLAPTONE (artist of the year 2012 in German Trendcharts DCC).
The track ‘CREAM’ became the worldwide Top Track (No.2) of Beatport in the category Deep House and was among the Top 10 of the most charted tracks for 2012 on Resident Advisor.
The new year brings 2 more surehots for the clubs: WRONG & NO EYES featuring JAW from dOP.
Early support by Tensnake, Solomun, Noir, Laurent Garnier, DJ T…

In a now long forgotten world, many generations ago, a bird like shape emerged from wooded darkness, floating and fluttering, drifting and dreaming. Backlit by a bright glow of iridescent light, the undecipherable form wore a dazzling golden mask. Its long beak swooped down like an inverted horn and since then, people have referred to the mythical being simply as Claptone.
Years spending wandering medieval landscapes have informed Claptone’s view of the world, experiencing both magical mystery and muted melancholy he enchanted onlookers with occult instruments and beguiling sounds. Forever surrounded by a sense of intrigue, the world soon cottoned on to the elusive yet enchanting musical powers of this otherworldly beast. The results are that today his shamanistic sonic powers take him all around the world.
Whilst Claptone has continued to roam in his own circles, 2012AD proved to be a year dominated by his infectious ‘Cream’ track. It became an immediate hit, topping new world charts at Beatport and RA, whilst the sonic conjuring of the ‘Night On Fire’ EP also lured all those who heard it, with the result another Top 20 hit. But that’s not all, for the creativity flows freely in our hero, and his ‘Another Night’ also proved to be just as successful on the dancefloor. Deep and woozy, the Claptone sound pairs theatre with tragedy, feel good vibes with acute melancholia and imbues each groove with a Rhodes laced funk, an organic string hook and myriad earthy elements.
Up to the present day, Claptone releases have been birthed on Germany’s influential Exploited label, picking up props from the likes of Pete Tong, DJ Sneak, Soul Clap, DJ Hell, Jesse Rose, A-Trak along the way. Who or whatever Claptone is, it is alive, with a life of its own, evolving and revolving in equal measure, exploring new sounds naturally and forever taking inspiration from long gone and occult worlds.
So far, esteemed and influential dancefloors at clubs in Berlin, London, Paris, Melbourne, Shanghai, New York and many others around the world have fallen under the sonic spell of this secretive alchemist. The future is unpredictable for Claptone, but a new release ‘Wrong’ including the track ‘No Eyes’ with the inimitable JAW from French funsters dOP is on the horizon. Beyond that, your guess is as good as ours…

Das Jahr geht zu Ende und hatte Höhen und einige Tiefen. Einer der schönsten Momente für mich war sicher, endlich wieder auf Festivals spielen zu können. Hierfür hatte ich im Frühjahr 22 extra neue Tracks und Edits für mein Live-Set gebaut. Einer davon war ein Edit von Gladys Knight & The Pipes, welchen ich oft als letzten in meinen Sets gespielt hatte. About the EP => 
Back and fresh on the release circuit for 2k18 is Berlin-based Jose Antonio Garcia Soler, better known to his friends and followers by his artistic nom de guerre KID SIMIUS. The KID proudly presents his FLASHBACK EP, a heartwarming monster of a single featuring no-one less than the beloved band outfit KILNAMANA comprised of Enda Gallery and KID SIMIUS' brother Miguel Garcia Soler. With the original version of Flashback KID SIMIUS and KILNAMANA present a tender, yet highly emotional slow jam, a modernistic take on contemporary Future R'n'B and Urban Soul accompanied by epic synth leads, a sparse electronic and surely beatmaker influenced foundation. It's electrifying chorus touches hearts from deep within. On a remix tip for Flashback is NICONE. The German producer who's been stirring up dancefloors throughout the past decade with releases on labels such as Stil Vor Talent, Katermukke and his very own imprint Dantze. His take on Flashback beams us straight to the very center of a buzzing dancefloor, implementing a warm yet hypnotic feel to his musical interpretation whilst sending punters to a next lexel of ecstasy with large scale build-ups and crystalline synth lines. Under The Moon is the latest single to be taken from Claptone’s forthcoming album ‘Fantast’.

It’s an exquisitely executed piano-led deep house groover, the kind of which the Claptone name has become synonymous with over recent years. It’s the song that’s been getting the big response in Claptone’s DJ sets of late and its release has become hotly anticipated amongst his fans. The song gradually builds tension as Nathan Nicholson’s vocal weaves through until an almighty release into a driving bass line. 

It’s also the return of a collaboration which brought about ‘Heartbeat’, the runaway single from the masked man’s debut album, a track which for many sound-tracked the summer of 2015 and has since notched up 20m Spotify streams. 

With a hectic touring schedule ahead for mysterious man, and remixes on their way from Cassius, Catz N Dogz and Lee Foss, the track is set to play a big part in Ibiza and at festivals throughout the Summer.

Painted as a mythical character shrouded in mystery, Claptone has become one of the biggest names in electronic music whilst himself remaining in the shadows. He has however constantly sought to deepen his own distinctive world, creating a rich tapestry, which tells the Claptone story.

In his second artist album ‘Fantast’, the Claptone universe is at its deepest and most vivid. He is the master of his domain and in his most artful offering yet, the assured 13 tracks of 'Fantast' come together to create an album full of varied colours and atmospheric textures.

In music Claptone seeks not to create a world of secrecy, but one of great depth and intrigue. An enigma with a tireless desire for creativity and thirst for new music, Claptone has brought together a diverse group of collaborators such as Bloc Party’s Kele Okereke, Blaenavon, Tender, Jones, Zola Blood, Austra’s Katie Stelmanis, The Boxer Rebellion’s Nathan Nicholson, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Joan as a Police Woman and Matt Simons.  

'Over the last two years it has been a great pleasure to work on this album as a counterpoint to the hectic world of travelling as a DJ. To lose myself when making music, to dive into and create my very own realm of beauty. I admit it's a dreamy, a heartfelt, at times a naive and surely escapist album, but what to do if one - on the quest for his soul - develops a strong desire to go back to his roots, back to nature? Did I find myself on that journey? Rather not. But I found some beautiful moments in the green, out in the woods, out in the fields, under the moon and in the night, moments, which I want to share with you. And there is one thing I learned and now it can be told, I am and have always been a ‘Fantast’.'

We caught a glimpse of his ambition to produce a body of work in Claptone’s debut artist album 'Charmer' which has scored over 60million streams and counting, but it’s in 'Fantast' that Claptone really delves deeper into the art of songwriting. 

2018 will see another intense year of touring as a DJ with Claptone taking his immersive 'The Masquerade' event experience further, having built momentum over the last 18 months hosting events and stages in Los Angeles, Berlin, Paris, Melbourne, Barcelona and New York and at festivals like Tomorrowland, Melt Festival, Elrow at Amnesia Ibiza, Green Valley in Brazil.
