Following their contribution to Superclasico Vol 2., @tomsobolikmusic officially joins the Clasico family in a major way!

Five new tracks from one of the US underground’s most exciting voices, Heavy Eyes finds Sobolik refining their sound while reconnecting with their roots. Written over eight months between June 2024 and February 2025, the record came out of a moment of recalibration. After a run of dense, chaotic releases, Sobolik stripped things back and turned their focus to groove and percussion, gravitating towards techno, tribal house and dubstep for inspiration – but never long enough for any one genre to define them.

The result is a set of tracks that balance dissonance and playfulness, with a renewed emotional core. “I wanted to hone things down,” they explain. “None of them are straightforward bangers, but they’re all playful, charged, and connected to the deep reverence for pop music that’s always driven me.”

Musically, the EP takes influence from Trekkie Trax, 85 Acid and Yaleesa Hall, late-‘00s dubstep pioneers like Appleblim and Peverelist, and the DJ worldbuilding of CCL, Gigsta, Objekt, and Kiernan Laveaux. But at its heart, it’s rooted in Sobolik’s most formative experiences in the North American underground, channeling the unbridled spirit of DIY raves like Montreal’s Layer05 and STM, Philadelphia’s Chrysalis and Concréte, New York’s Groovy Groovy and TOSSD, and of course Sobolik’s own Antidote nights. “This music is for those floors,” they say. “The places that captured my heart.”

As their seventh EP, Heavy Eyes feels like a sure step forward. “It comes from me DJing more, deepening my knowledge of how dance music works on the body and on a crowd,” Sobolik reflects. “I feel more confident now, put less pressure on myself – and I think the tracks are cleaner, more distilled.” That maturity doesn’t come at the expense of personality, though: this is still music full of texture, humour, and an air of “why the fuck not?”

The EP closes with a remix from Swedish innovator Peder Mannerfelt – ‘business (techno) in the front, party in the back’ personified and one of Sobolik’s earliest inspirations. “He’s been flying the flag for freaky, fun, bassy techno for years,” Sobolik says. “His tracks set my gold standard for dancefloor music – I did not expect he’d be so immediately down to remix my material, and I’m really humbled by his support.”

With Heavy Eyes, Sobolik delivers their sharpest and most focused work yet: club tracks that are fierce and frenetic, but also deeply earnest.

Perc Loop Princess is the second single on the EP, before Heavy Eyes drops in full on October 2.

Since 2019, @chuan_p been a staple of Shanghai booths—sets with Rhyw, Deniro, Objekt, CCL, Le Motel—earning a rep for deep selections and tight booth control. He runs BAIHUI Studio and speaks PA/DJ rigs fluently.

Musical mother tongue: modern club music shaped by African-American lineages + Jamaican sound system pressure—soul/funk & disco/house foundations, dub space, detours into jungle/footwork. Heavy sound design meets high-tech propulsion, softened by humor and a pop glint—his own “well-crafted cute music.”

Recent: a 3024 release with 3ASiC (Oct 2024), co-signed by Jacques Greene, object blue, Akanbi. He also hosts Flowstate on BAIHUI Radio.

This mix blends longtime faves with new joints from friends—recorded when he’s not playing Silksong.

From Paris to Lisbon to London. FloFilz' third album for Melting Pot Music is deeply inspired by the UK jazz and hip-hop scene. “Transit” features collaborations with Alfa Mist, Barney Artist, Biig Piig and K, Le Maestro.

“Transit” will be available digital and on LP (limited gatefold edition includes a 20-page photo booklet by Robert Winter).

“Jazz (We've Got)” was the title of the second single from A Tribe Called Quest's iconic album “The Low End Theory”. It was released in 1991, the same year FloFilz was born. Similar to Tribe FloFilz resurrects jazz for a new generation. He has been doing this for a while now and is pretty good at it, as you might know if you are familiar with his previous works “Metronom” and “Cenário”.

In 2019 things have changed. Today jazz is not only about diggin' old records and learning about Bird and Trane. Jazz is very much alive and the city of London has become one of its epicenters. The UK jazz scene is happening because it is deeply connected with hip-hop, soul and club music. A perfect setting for FloFilz. Over the last 18 months, he has collected serious Eurostar miles, heading from Aachen to London - going to gigs, hanging out with musical allies and recording new material.

This is why he calls his new album “Transit”. Through 18 tracks FloFilz translates the current London vibe in his very own style and fashion and I dare to say that “Transit” may be the best album he has treated us with so far.
