Just My Type

This is a feel-good love song inspired by my roots in Lagos Nigeria where I was born. It is such a lively and bustling city where music and dancing form such a huge part of the culture so for me I want this song to reflect what love in Lagos feels like. 

Partially growing up in the UK, I was exposed to a lot of western music which does influence my writing and I feel that Promise demonstrates that perfectly. For example, I start the song with an African inspired chant that leads into the first verse, however by the time you get to the chorus, you can hear some of the western pop influences that inspire my writing.

I always want to be authentically me and with the ever-evolving genre of afrobeat, there are so many new sounds that are pushing the boundaries and I believe you can really carve your own corner and don’t have to be restricted to a specific genre.

I was thinking about people who had to spend Christmas without loved ones
This is a song inspired by my roots in Lagos Nigeria where I was born and spent my early years. During Christmas many people leave Lagos and go back to their hometown to spend the Festive period. When I was young we always travelled to spend Christmas with Grandfather in Ondo town. Lagos becomes quite laid back during this period  while the home towns are bustling and lively because people have come back home.
I want and hope this song reflects that we should be grateful to have our friends and loved ones around during Christmas when ever possible
