The irrepressible 30/70 return to Rhythm Section International with a hot and heavy surprise single, ‘Tastes Like Freedom’, just in time for the 3rd summer of love. Emotive, intimate and provoking a radical sensuality only Allysha Joy and her ensemble can conjure, TLF expands and unfolds over 9 minutes of free-floating jazz-funk. Ziggy Zeitgeist’s skittering, broken beat-leaning hats and Josh Kelly’s 90’s film noir-esc saxophone coalesce to throw the mood down-town. As always, the band go deep... Still, it hits a steppy tempo ~ perfectly poised for the summer dancefloor. It’s a blissful, lively roller as much as it’s a nostalgia-drenched neo-soul love song. And with a remix package on the way from some of the finest producers in electronic music, you can be sure ‘Tastes Like Freedom’ will be causing a stir. 

Over the last few years, 30/70 have become something of a supergroup: with Allysha Joy, Ziggy Zeitgeist, Josh Kelly and Matthew Hayes all soaring as solo artists and band leaders. Individual talents aside, there’s nothing quite like the 30/70 collective united as one unstoppable force; 
and the synergy is palpable in this tantalising tour-de force.

Red Rack’em is back with a new series devoted to the beautiful, self torturous art of overthinking, With the whole world stuck in a funk of uncertainty, it feels like a good time to blast away those cobwebs of uncertainty and release some music inspired by procrastination, quadruple guessing, agonizing over mixdowns (he’s never happy), using volume automation, channel gains AND bussing to create a melange of engineering cross purpose and take the writer even deeper into an artistically redundant mental cul de sac, which bears witness to countless stalled 3 point turn attempts. And that’s on a good day.

Following recent appearances on Permanent Vacation, Mute and Correspondant, Terr makes a triumphant return to Phantasy with a deeply dreamy new single, ‘Wings of Time’. Marking Terr's third appearance on the label, and her first since 2019, 'Wings of Time' is complimented by a momentous remix from Tornado Wallace.

‘Wings Of Time’ serves to underscore Daniela Caldellas’ talents as both a producer and performer, a songwriter and a master of dancefloor atmosphere. Terr’s assured vocal performance once again takes front-and-centre, a warm beckoning light through a journey made of shimmering pads, wistful chords and defined by a powerful sense of groove. An instrumental edition further highlights the arrangement, which resolves with rare, cosmic catharsis.

Tornado Wallace appears to stretch the time Terr sings of on his elastic, tunnelling remix, grinding out every inch of tension and detail from the blueprint, expanding minds and widening eyes in the process. While Terr’s original will likely send dancers to the heavens, Wallace reverses the energy source for an unexpectedly bass-heavy interpretation that generates a different, earthier pleasure.

Insult To Injury head honcho, Timothy Clerkin, returns to the Ransom Note Records sub-label with four Acid-infused slices of analogue vulgarity, aimed squarely at the newly opened dance floors! 

We kick off with the eponymous “Plasticity”; beginning as a fun, bouncy, Acid number, the vortex soon opens up before us & we’re sucked into a black hole of sound, where time & space is stretched to its limits, disorienting all those who enter. However, we’re spat safely out the other side, landing on luscious bed of warm analogue synthesis, towards home. 

Lead single from the EP, “Would?” is a collaboration with ITI alumni, Buran. Created remotely during lockdown, this reinterpretation of the classic 90’s Alice In Chains anthem has aggressive 909’s thumping & distorted 303’s squelching, as the guitar riffs & vocal melodies of the original are replayed for the club. All proceeds from this single will be going to Mind UK, in tribute to Alice In Chains singer, Layne Staley, who sadly died of an overdose in 2002. 

“Mercurial” is so called due to its ever changing direction: a hard one to attribute to any one genre, it was recorded live with four synths and an 808; proof that sometimes the simplest ideas are the best. “Order 66” closes us out with a shotgun blast of Hardcore / Breaks - a nod to the lofi sampling culture of the early 90’s UK scene, the classic orchestral rave stabs take us back to the golden age of the warehouse party… Whistles at the ready, ravers!

People Plus are CZ Wang and Joli B., signalling from a studio and or Hut in some remote location. Their debut EP consists of three trips into time in just as many styles.

Side A belongs to “Olympus Mons”, a song as big as the mountain its named from. Snake charmer synth lines and vocal roars backed by the baddest rhythm section in a while… wait for the solo! The B side holds “Work It Out”, with broken 4-off-the-floor drumz and revving echo effects. Taking the coveted B1 spot is the always dancefloor smashing “Second Cycle” - A verified banger that opens up with ground shaking acidish filter bubbles, and closes somewhere way up above the clouds.

'Banoffee Pies Records drop their 12th release in the original series with a solo EP from New York-based Tristan Arp. With a string of intricate music on the likes of Human Pitch and a recent LP entitled “Suggested Forms”, which offers a wider exploration into his work, Tristan’s passion for sound design echoes in this record.

All four tracks offer an environment somewhere between a feeling and a dance floor with obscure influences in polyrhythmic drum patterns and a clear combination of digital and analogue processing. “Swept Thru” opens proceedings with a spiral of rhythms and heavy percussion leaping in energy throughout.
