Following the release of their debut ’Bodyclock‘ series in 2020, Singaporean label Darker Than Wax now unveil the second volume of the series, presenting the identity of the label’s sprawling worldwide family. The first volume, a natural extension of the label’s DNA, illustrated an attack of nocturnal club sounds, rooted in the culture curated by the pioneers of dancefloor music. BodyClock Vol.2 sees the new school of producers push the limits of musical self-discovery.

Compiled by DTW label co-founder Dean Chew, ‘Bodyclock Vol.2’ sees Darker Than Wax curating a cross-continental offering, highlighting the work of eight producers living around the world - dipping into the respective scenes of Vancouver, Osaka & Tokyo, Cape Town, Vienna, Karachi, Amsterdam & beyond. ‘Bodyclock Vol.2’ takes listeners on a globally diverse and greatly vivid dance journey.

Opening with Laza’s ‘WTBWH’ (the project’s first single) - the record’s pace is quickly set, with intense, driving drum patterns and soulful reverberating keys. Throughout the project, acid laced tracks from label alumni Akio Nagase and newcomer Tollcrane meet left-field ethereal movements from B.Visible and Teo Mattress. Joined by RGL’s 80’s-esque sleazy sonics and UNOS’s 2-step drums and oscillating basslines. BodyClock Vol.2 is closed out by Tiro!’s ‘Charcuterie’ - which rolls gently through the ether, supplying icey keys and calming frequencies. Another essential slice of worldwide dancefloor action from the Darker Than Wax camp.

via @danceregular: From the forthcoming Stepping Hill EP via Dance Regular is Pavement groove, a proper soulful 2 Step roller featuring London born, Manchester based Yemi Bolatiwa, a talented vocalist and songwriter who is a leading light of the Manchester music scene. 

Working with orchestras, bands and DJs in a range of different genres, a versatile performer as her recent single, ‘Water’, showed. On Szajna’s ‘Pavement Groove’ Yemi’s soulful vocals talk about feeling like you need space as it flow's in and out of the 2 step rhythm and jazzy chords with Szajna's low end sub basses laying foundations to the groove.

Szajna (Shy-Na) is a Manchester-based DJ and music producer who has been holding multiple DJ residencies across MCR for over 12 years now.

His productions got him noticed outside of the Manchester scene gaining popularity amongst the London bruk movement. This led to him being officially invited into the Selectors Assemble crew by legendary Broken Beat pioneer, IG Culture. Since then he has had multiple releases on labels; CoOp Presents, Dance Regular, Phuture Shock Music & Eclectic Beats.

This compilation was created in a collaboration between two promoters of “all things beats”: Beat the Future, a show on Radio808 & a club night 
from Zagreb, and rx:tx, a label from Ljubljana. It's beats, it's bass, it's 
bleeps in the broadest sense and it is primarily a showcase of local 
production, mostly by young and relatively unknown artists from the 
region. To some extent it's an “ex-Yu affair” as the artists involved come
from Croatia, Slovenia and Serbia.
