Twenty-something Dutch born, Berlin-based producer Pascal Terstappen is better known to the world under the production guise of Applescal. Blurring the lines between Beats, Ambient Electronica & low-key Techno,  Applescal's cinematic sound will take you on a sonic journey through the upper echelons of the dream world.

Having released three albums and a string of singles on his own Atomnation imprint, Cologne based Traum Schallplatten & Italy's Tarvisium Electronique and others he's prolific by nature. With a strong ear for melody he holds the ability to create beautiful textural soundscapes that swirl, stall and plateau for a thoroughly engaging listening experience. His latest work, the five-track 'Mirage' EP is a rough and ready package of oscillating acid Techno, cinematic House with some Eastern flavours. Darker than is previous endeavours it's not dissimilar to the work of Jon Hopkins.

Pointing in the sonic direction of his own label and also Berlin's Project Mooncircle, Hyp 192 is a blend of syncopated beat lullabies and organic sampled sounds that will wash over you like a flood of warm, positive energy. Opening with a transcendental symphony from PMC's Long Arm, the mix is peppered with nostalgia, featuring cuts from Télépopmusik, the badman Deft, Portable Sunsets & there's even a subtle Arcade Fire edit slipped in. Meditative and free-flowing, you will feel as if you have woken from a long and peaceful sleep after listening...

Diegesis: an album about being a character in the dream of the universal mind. A soundtrack to the ever unfolding story-machine that is reality. De-contextualised voices sing archetypal melodies over vivid ambient textures. Shifting layers of time-stretched samples are held together by dubbed out drums. A mood of melancholic bliss and ambiguity permeates throughout. Diegesis is an auditory reflection on the narrative nature of existence.

Olson is a regular collaborator with the ‘LOFS’ collective run by Number One, Oshi Moon, eleu, Jamie Genome and Adam Barnes.
Olson runs the LOFS x Crend Request Party ‘2 Crends Deep’ with the rest of the LOFS crew, not being afraid to stray away from his calmer ambient side he can be found regularly closing the night with an array of dance music spanning from jungle, footwork, techno and beyond. This can also be experienced with his dance floor focused releases on labels Audio Bambino and RLO.

🛕 New midi instrument premiere: I used Phrygian Scale in combination with digital synth sounds which I played on my new mpe midi controller (the Exquis from Intuitive Instruments) and created the song structure within its companion app. In the end I recorded everything to my DAW (Studio One) and added some recorded sounds and FX to spice things up a little. Definitely happy with the outcome of this first session with the new device and already looking forward to the next one.

Almost 2 years ago (time escapes !), I released a very small series of Vinyle EP including "Etendue des possibles" and "Infusion" (A-Face), and "Safe Haven" + "The arpeggiator" (B-Face). "Safe Haven" was heard only by few people, so far. It was my third collaboration with the brilliant singer Lisa McKeon a.k.a. Iam9. Enjoy !
