A(nother) Classic West Coast Summer Vol. 2 by DJ Yinka Diz

(By) DESIGN is the second chapter in Yinka Diz’s four-EP concept series, CodeSwitch — a long-form project that parallels the phases of the software-development lifecycle:

1. Discovery – finding the idea and the voice
2. Design – shaping the vision into something tangible
3. Development – building the foundation, testing limits
4. Delivery – releasing the finished product to the world

As the “Design” branch of this musical code, EP #2 explores the intentional architecture of both the art and the artist. While the series’ tech-driven framework nods to the iterative, strategic nature of building software, the deeper narrative reveals how Yinka Diz’s own identity and experiences were designed and refined through trial, conflict, and purpose.

The CodeSwitch title speaks to the dual story: on one hand, the literal act of branching and merging code; on the other, the cultural and personal act of “codeswitching” — navigating different worlds and adapting to different spaces as an artist, son, friend, and hustler. Each EP uncovers a different facet of Yinka: his ambitions, doubts, resilience, and triumphs — showing how those layers interconnect to build the person behind the music.

In (By) DESIGN, Yinka takes listeners into the blueprint stage of his evolution — laying out the themes, emotions, and inner sketches that will inform what comes next. From the opening drive of “Road 2 Riches” to the collaborative victory lap of “The Winner,” the project underscores that every chapter of his story — and every bar he spits — exists with purpose: nothing by accident, everything by design.
