As for the track itself, this is heavily inspired by both "The Legend", as well as many old school exposition cutscenes in video games. It's one of my favorite tropes.

Amoeba proteus is a large species of amoeba that uses extendable psuedopodia to move and eat food (other single-celled organisms). It was first depicted by naturalist and entomologist August Johann Rösel von Rosenhof, who originally dubbed it the "Little Proteus". It is related to the genus Chaos, and is sometimes called Chaos diffluens.
