Grid celebrates Christmas a bit in advance this year by offering you a special gift : a one-of-a-kind family compilation with Grid producers remixing other Grid producers tracks previously released on the label.

The project started with this simple idea, ending with 12 unpredictable matches, 12 chance encounters. A lovely way to revisit our catalog by the artists themselves, gathered together after 4 years, like catching up at a family dinner. 'Long time, no see !'

Lisbon’s Eterna, run by local mainstay @mariaamoramormaria , returns to shed light on more incredible music coming from her city. @hiromakeo is an imaginative, skilled composer who participates actively in the scene and devotes his life to music in its various manifestations. His new EP on Eterna, titled ‘Agora Mas Nunca’ (which translates as ‘Now Yet Never’) is a testament to curiosity-driven, exciting sound design - and absolutely sick rhythmic patterns.
Abstract bass-led two-step vibrations flood our ears in the stunning opener ‘Agora’, its mutant synths providing both rhythm and tension like detailed sonic painting. The tone is set for an adventurous musical journey that continues on with ‘Nunca’, a seamless fusion between digital and organic sounds, with polyrhythmic percussion leading the way, peppered with playful cut-up vocals and texture manipulation. Sound effects that sing are the name of the game in this EP - and ‘Salto’ is a prime example with its flanger-drenched, futuristic dub intro that unhurriedly morphs into an uncompromising, low-key rave banger with round basslines and metallic rushes. Club PAs around the world would revel in blasting out nuanced, exciting music like this more often - that’s what pops to mind. The final original is ‘Atraso’, a faster - and infectious - ode to broken, unexpected drum patterns complete with a driving sub-heavy bassline and accented by congas, claps and vocals.
@rhyw , a longtime label favourite, steps in for the first remix with a more concise take on ‘Agora’, stripping it to its essentials and then classically twisting things a little bit to serve elegance and freshness all at once. The second remix rounds the record off perfectly via @ciel_dj ’s intricate, attentive touch. The original is given a four to the floor signature, the bassline is re-calibrated into a bouncy yet sober pattern, textures become subtler but the experimentalist spirit remains.
This one is for listeners and DJs who not only welcome but actively search for fun and innovation in contemporary dance music: the basslines, the unforeseeable drums, the sonic sculptures will take you to places that your mind - and dancing body - is longing for.

Hiroma Keo - Agora (Rhyw Remix)

Label co-founder Tal Fineman launches new alias @faulteruk with Obstinacy, a 4-track EP that showcases his penchant for cutting edge, contemporary club sounds.

Spanning a broad spectrum of energy, Obstinacy balances heads-down groove with a meticulous, measured approach to songwriting.

A record of two halves, the EP opens with two peak-time bombs designed to ignite warehouse dancefloors worldwide. First up is the unrelenting techno weapon ‘Perspectives’ (file in your wormhole playlist) followed by a slamming, in-your-face electro wobbler, ‘Data Spike’.

The ‘B-side’ shifts towards deeper shades and organic textures, with the dub techno & minimal-leaning title track 'Obstinacy' - an ideal layering tool for like-minded DJs. Finally, the EP closes with 'Zaf (Dub Mix)', a brooding, delay-laced gem that rounds out the release on a moody note, hinting at much more to come.

Premiere: Camin 'Duct'

"Like many others in the current DJ circuit I was first introduced to Dance music via the likes of acts such as Daft Punk & Justice. It was only after I got my hands on a fake ID that I began to delve into the heavier side of things. Stumbling across Josh Wink’s “Talking To You” was the first time he remember consistently playing a repetitive 4/4 track over and over again - (Spoiler) Which is why, almost 5 years later, I’ve included it in this mix as my final track. 

Setting up SafeHaus and more recently Soul Purpose, both with my best pals, has put me in an ideal position to play out my favorite tracks and also as a collective, book and support our favorite up and coming acts - Which has been fantastic, as growing up in my Dad’s music studio left me with an abundance of musical knowledge but also an absence of patience when it came to learning instruments. I think if you have a love for music but have a short attention span then DJ’ing is the perfect outlet for you.

This mix is a good indication of the direction I’m going in at the moment. It’s a step back from foot to the floor 4/4 bangers and more of a textured build up of bleeps and bloops, all the while still keeping energy levels high - Which is exactly what I plan on playing out in the future."
