I've always been a massive fan of Boards of Canada, if its not obvious already!  10-11 years ago I stumbled upon a bootleg recording of one of their extremely rare live performances at the Warp 10 Birthday party in 1999.  The closing tune at this show has always remained a mystery to me.  As far as I know it has no title and has never been released.  It's quite possibly one of my favorite things they have done and really is a shame it never came out. Fast forward to Summer 2012...  Since I am a huge nerd I decided to take this bootleg recording and re-produce it for fun.  Using the recording I laid new drums over the existing drum patterns (almost 100% accurate to original), replayed some synth parts and the bassline.  The only thing I didn't try to re-create was the original vocoder parts and some random samples so I used the bootleg recording for that.  I was tempted to make a shorter 4-5 minute version but I figured I should preserve the piece in its intended length (although the length was most likely due to it being a live jam).

Downloads limited to 100 (sorry I still haven't upgraded my account).  I do not claim rights to the original nor do I intend to ever sell this.  Not sure if I'm violating anything or not with Soundcloud so grab it quick!

This live PA of SAMULI KEMPPI was recorded live @ Suicide Circus on the 4th of january, 2013.

The room is hot, hot, hotter than Hell. People are sweating and  condensed liquid runs down the walls. It looks like a nasty plumbing  problem, but it smells salty. Like an animal. A live one, not one that  has been salted. As we move towards the back of the room, we come upon a  fog bank. It‘s fine, like gauze, but it‘s there. As you approach it, the  hair on your sweaty forearm stands on end. The DJ booth has its own  microclimate, several dozen degrees colder than the dance floor. They are  playing an icy cool Samuli Kemppi track. It‘s sucking heat out of its  surroundings, feeding through the needle into the mixer and out onto the  floor, where it turns into heat again. 

  SAMULI KEMPPI is one of the key figures of modern techno scene. Hard working producer and DJ who is always breaking boundaries and delivering  fresh mixture of times past and days yet to come. Samuli has released  music on high profile labels such as Mote-Evolver, Komisch, Time to  Express and Ostgut Ton since 2002 under different names and pseudonyms.  Samuli and his long time friend Juho Kusti just launched their own label Deep Space Helsinki as an extension to their radio show and parties.  First release, Signal One EP, came out in July 2012. DSH002 is scheduled  for January 2013.   Past few years have been very successful for Samuli and he has played  in Tresor, Bunker NYC, Arma, Cocorico, Berghain and many other hot  techno spots around the world. Lot's of remixes and releases scheduled  for 2013 should keep the man busy.
