Following the passing of jazz legend Yusef Lateef in December, Gilles went through the innovator's extensive back-catalogue going all the way back to the 1950s, pulling out some of his personal favourite tracks. Here is part one of Gilles' tribute mix, celebrating the life and music of the mighty Yusef Lateef.

Clarity's "Infinite" is thirteen tracks of tech-laden minimal bass music, dark and heady and comin' up fast on a sound that guys like Icicle have had a stranglehold on over the past few years. It sits mainly in the drum & bass space, with a few forays into alternating tempos and aesthetics, but there's an undeniable, classy touch to proceedings that suggest Clarity's been honing his sound for years and years.

Established in 2012, Inflect was birthed as a club night in Bristol UK, representing the ever diversifying rhythms and sounds of up-tempo, underground electronic music. Since then it's continued in form, grown an online magazine, mix series, and label; Inflect Audio, which now brings two fresh tracks from Coleco, "Lucidity" and "Awareness Now".

Beginning on an etheric flute line laced with organic crackle, "Lucidity" quickly launches full pelt into a snappy, swaggering half step rhythm, peppered by tight, cracking snare rolls, slicing string stabs and rasping horns, all underlayed by a brutal, buzzing synth line. It's dark and uncompromising companion, "Awareness Now" is a monster morphing of horn stabs through pure electronic aggression, into rave like stabs and out the other end into meditative reverberant and spacious bleeps, all to thundering, driving steppy kicks and snares.

Having previously garnered support from forward thinking artists and DJ'S such as Rockwell, dBridge, Om Unit, Thelem, Ant TC1 and more, with past releases on Inflect Audio, Med School, Runtime Records and more to come from DnB labels at the forefront of the scene, Coleco continues to operate with unique rhythms at the heavier end of the uptempo spectrum. "Lucidity" and "Awareness Now" are no exception, drawing influences from DnB, Trap, Dubstep, Footwork, world music and beyond, both offer unique combinations of weighty half step, uptempo rhythms, brutal electrifying synthesis, and cinematic orchestral elements, primed for the dancefloor and making for captivating home listening.
