Half Light

Something comissioned by Emizibo for a dance performance, 2 years ago.
Also first time I had to "build" a droplet drumkit.

Watersong

In November 2016, the porlwi by light team invited some artists to each create a piece for the Motus.Mo lib exhibition, part of the porlwi by light festival in Mauritius. The exhibition took place in an old prison in the capital where each artist had a cell and whose work was to be based on a writing from a local author, in my case, a poem by Mauritian auteur Jean Fanchette.

The visuals are accompanied by a soundtrack composed for the occasion. 

It is made to be listened to with headphones only, preferably at night in semi obscurity.

d’une île incertitude
d’où regarder crève les yeux
d’une île mémoire
 je parle de telle mort dénaturelle
 d’une errance qui n’est pas juive
 d’une malédiction qui n’est pas noire
 d’un martyr qui n’est pas viet
 d’une richesse qui n’est pas blanche
 au bord de la pendule chose du poème
 mon état civil vient me visiter
 je m’appelle chair vivante qui dit mieux
 on me nomme contradiction qui dit pire
en moi mon siècle démesure à loisir
 je n’ai d’accent que mes images
et  j’en abuse pour défigurer les automnes
les refus les reculs et le dire subit des amours.
