This is an exclusive session of Ylia as part of Mostra Barcelona Festival (@mostrabcn) for HOC radio. 
"Like a Moebius work, this seemingly unconnected adventure is a brilliant laboratory of evidence. An asteroid of overlapping worlds, a space for abstract textures created by the eighth passenger, another space for earthly rhythms and songs of minimalist tribes. And so, constant superimpositions and overlaps of conceptual environments that, when you finish and look back, you will discover that there is no disconnection but rather the opposite."

Founder of Animah records (@animahrecords), Ylia (@ylia) is a musician, producer and Dj. She came of age DJing breakbeat raves in Andalucia while studying classical piano at the conservatory, and then moved to Barcelona to study modern composition and arrangements at Taller de Musics in Barcelona, becoming an intrinsic piece of the city musical ecosystem. She released her debut solo album 'Dulce Rendición' at Paralaxe Editions (@paralaxe-editions) while working on collaborative projects with Phran (@phran) as People You May Know (@peopleyoumayknowpumk); and with Darío del Moral under the name Bola del Desierto. She is also a member of experimental flamenco singer Niño de Elche's band, performing keyboards and electronics.

POISON is the collaborative project of producers DJ Plead and T.Morimoto. On this debut self titled EP, the artists contemplate their mixed Lebanese and Japanese heritages through a dense combination of digital emulations and rhythmic patterns. POISON investigate the uncanny abstraction whereby centuries old instruments and rhythmic patterns are encoded into files and presets; digital synths, heavy subs, 808s, and vocals from collaborator ARZ, combine with emulations of the Shakuhachi, Mijwiz, Taiko, and Darbuka among others. Enabled by commercial sound design tools, the two Australians have produced a beguiling piece of audio simulacra to be enjoyed by DJs and listeners alike.

Super Utu present this eponymous EP in 10” polyvinyl chloride. On side A we hear Eh Mnee7 Ft. ARZ. Off-beat guitar strums build tension as ARZ’s auto-tuned Arabic vocals punctuate a pop-song structure, and a digital Mijwizz solo calls dancers to floor. Next is CCGC60, a minimal, trance inducing, techno-not-techno anthem that is at once strange and familiar. On side B Mess Tool channels heady poly-rhythmic bass patterns and wild drum solos, as multiple digital flute melodies chirp playfully above. The final, International Funds Transfer, alternates between tight snare rhythms, heartfelt melodies, and a driving 4 to the floor kick drum that stretches out into an expansive late night DJ weapon.

DJ Plead has recently welcomed the release of a solo EP through Air Max 97’s Decisions label. He is one third of BV (Formerly known as Black Vanilla) and his photography graces this record’s cover as it does numerous other Australian artists including Cop Envy and Jikuroux. Meanwhile T.Morimoto has an ongoing practise as a multi-displinary artist, curator and writer and is currently pursuing academic research into aesthetic standardisation under post-digital conditions. His music has been released through US label Illuminated Paths as well as cult Australian label This Thing, Plastic World and Body Promise.

PREMIERE #819 | NNNN - Algae [Tapes From Future] 2020

Direct from the Hague (via Vilnius, Lithuania) comes your new favorite darkwave artist - Caline With C. This alias was created for the reason of experimentation, as a free space for exploration of the unknown, both in the outside world and within. Emotional experience (which often works as a strong drive and motivation to the artist) and soundwave are the main focuses for Caline with C (aka Kamile), now studying Sonology in a master program.
In her own words: “I am a DJ, composer, performer, researcher and basically open to any kind of mentally, emotionally and acoustically stimulating activities. All my world turns around sound. I believe that “in the beginning, there was sound…”, therefore learning to talk and understand the language of sound has been a true delight.” This ethos comes across in the clear experimental versus intuitive approach at play on “Once in a Blue Moon”, with tracks that were recorded approximately over a period of one year. Her influences vary widely from musique concrète, industrial, bass, hip hop to dub, breakbeat, house, techno. The resultant 5 pieces move from ambient through darkwave, footwerk and bass with motifs of funky percussive house scattered throughout (courtesy of Kamile’s beloved Quasimidi Rave-o-lution 309), and is a pleasure for lovers of sonic experimentation.

I met with Phran at Vimana studio to record a People You May Know mix (the project we share together). He had a stomachache so he laid for a while on the couch and told me to start with it. At the end he couldn't stand up so I ended up recording this breaks mix by my own while he was agonizing on the couch. The transitions are not perfect, but I really like the energy!

09.07 Ombra Festival
Ombra Festival will show its outstanding line up at the well-known 33|45 Bar in Barcelona. In this event, the Ombra booking Agency will be launched, as a new project, which stands for unusual sounds gathered by brand new and old school artists.

10.07 Vimana
Vimana is a mythological flying palace or chariot described in Hindu texts and Sanskrit epics. One such object was discovered in Barcelona’s industrial Poblenou district and has provided us with key to continue the mystical work of the sacred instructions contained therein: establish unity through shared trances brought on with the aid of potent tribal rhythms at regular gatherings.

11.07 Draft
Barcelona based collective draft was born out of necessity. Showcasing new and upcoming talents from every style and genre without forgetting some of the most exciting names that don't usually get much exposure, the people from draft just want to bring back the basics to the dancefloor: love and passion for music, dj craftsmanship, and a crowd that shows respect and is respected while expressing itself in any way it wants.

This youth association was born in December 2014 as a non-profit organisation to carry out cultural activities of dissemination, training and development for the defense, promotion and dissemination of electronic music created in Catalonia in all its artistic variants.
