Bill Morrissey with his band of Newmarket buddies, the Mental Retreads, circa mid-1970s. An alternate recording of this was released as the B side of Bill's single, "Live Free or Die." Ed Gerhard recalls the personnel as Grieg Westley on upright bass, Trigger Cooke on electric guitar, and Pete Leavenworth on Dobro, and suggests the female singer might be Janie Barnett(sp?), who sang in a band with Trigger, though Lisa Glines suggests it might be someone called "Ceecee."

I spent a bit over a month studying guitar with Bosco at his home in Lubumbashi, and did this brief interview at one of the lessons. For ''The New Normal'' special thanks go to Luc Glaister for the mix, Tony McDowell for the mastering, bass and drums, recorded 3000 km away and communicated through giant Internet cables.

Back in Istanbul, big thanks to The Nice Guys Quartet (Jake, Jan, Luc & Hiroshi) for the backing vocals that were recorded in Luc's studio on the Asian side.

The brass section was then added by Jack Butler. Thanks once again for your time and vision. And finally, the violin was the final piece of this musical jigsaw that was added by Hiroshi Tsuchihashi, who also directed the music video available on YouTube.


For ''This Bulgarian Banjo'', everything was recorded with Le Vraiment's portable studio. All instruments played by Y. McDowell however, the song details a road trip to Bulgaria with friends Kaan and Alex. Cheers to them!
