Water is about swimming, drowning, getting lost at sea.
It all started from three notes of marimba that I couldn’t get out of my head. It sounded muffled, like something you would hear underwater. But it also felt nostalgic and reminded me of those peaceful moments chilling out by the sea, that always ended too soon.
With all those synthetic sounds waving back and forth, I tried to represent everything that comes to my mind about Water: something beautiful in which your mind can wander… until you disappear into turbulent waves.

“This song is a declaration of love to unpredictability in life. Those big or small things that weren't planned but happen still, that shape us, make us happy or sad sometimes. I think that nothing is set in stone, and that everything was born out of an unexplainable chaos. This actually soothes me, despite obstacles in life we can still try to shake things up. 
This is what I wanted to say with those 5 intertwined guitar notes. I've never been very good with words, I feel more comfortable with my melodies.”

With its handmade synths and heroic guitar riffs, YMNK build electro pop instrumental hymns, both colorful and uninhibited. The mad scientist draws as much from Dan Deacon's pop-expé chaos as he does from Caribou's psychedelic retrowave. An adventurous project led solo by Alexis Zbik, Lille multi-instrumentalist and hyperactive hacker.
