Jonathan Kusuma makes his return to Cocktail d’Amore with a love letter to his Indonesian homeland. Each song is steeped in the ancient textures and timbres of the gamelan yet only brought to life through modular synthesis. Awalan opens the EP with a delicate touch, imbued with otherworldly chirps and the aural colors of an early morning sunrise. Roda Rodi as Mr. Kusuma explains is his interpretation of interlocking as a traditional Indonesian way of life. “Gotong Royong"" or ""Mutual Assistance"". The idea of mutual assistance is sharing of burdens between the member of the community. Modular sequences tightly fit into one another, helping to support one another in the structure of their momentary existence. “Kerontang” and “Racacak” are two cuts that have Jonathans signature sound design printed all over them. Big, booming, and full of enraptured percussion. We’re treated to a haunting close on “Lorong K”. Menaced tones rising and falling, small fragments piercing through as to be bits of disintegrating concrete falling off the walls of a lost city.

Mind Dance return with the second volume in their ‘Mystic Minds’ VA series. Launched last year as a way to continue the strong collaborative nature of the electronic music underground, each installment will shine a light on local Australian talent and their cross-continental contemporaries.

Continuing this mission with a new batch of friends, family and former label mates in tow, round two rallies six artists from home soil and overseas for another deep excursion into the vast expanses of dance music.

From across the pond we have Dutch producer and Music From Memory regular Dazion who kicks off the VA with a wonky slice of rhythmic downtempo, and Phran, a Barcelona-based artist and member of IVAN - a duo alongside Ivy Barkakati - who puts his foot on the gas with a stomping techno cut.

Closer to home we have Aussie dance veteran and the man behind Mind Dance’s last release, Andy Rantzen, deliver a tight bleep-soaked acid jam, followed by Leo James and Mousse flying the flag for Melbourne with twinkling IDM and laid-back vocal house, respectively. Finally label boss Furious Frank closes out proceedings with a downbeat percussive house number to usher in summer, if you’re in the Southern Hemisphere that is...

Yaniv De Ridder is a Brussels-born music producer, audiovisual artist, and curator with a deep love for sound. Now based in sunny California, he co-founded *Vague Terrain*, a platform for sonic exploration.

He is known by the alias YNV and YANTRA with lyricist-vocalist-instrumentalist Janina Angel Bath. Working together, the pair craft new forms of transcendent sound, timeless and familiar all at once.

In his music, as with his videos, he exploits the liminal space between our most disparate emotional states and the tenuous thread that binds our inner world to reality at its face value. Carrying the torch of his Euro roots, you hear the influence of his homeland with some California sunshine and a palm tree thrown in for good measure.
