We're happy to host Interstate 55 duo as the next guest of our famous Apparel Radio Show. The Interstate 55 project was born of a friendship between two young students, Chris and Alex, at a warehouse party in South Chicago in 1995. Press correspondents for Coda and Trax Magazine between Chicago and Paris, the two guys helped promote the Underground sound in Europe, interviewing some of the greatest legends: Paul Johnson, Cajmere, Derrick Carter, Dance Mania Crew and more. 25 years after the most beautiful private parties, Alex returns to the mix to promote the underground once again, through various Radio Shows on SoundCloud, with current tones and the launch of a label planned for next year. Welcome to Interstate 55 and their mix, on the 255th episode of the Apperel Music's Apparel Radio Show.

With a new EP out on his own Brooklyn based Onysia label featuring tracks from himself, Rick Wade & Jeremy Sylvester, we got the bossman in to showcase what he and the label is about!

"The mix is an Onysia label spotlight, with a lot of forthcoming / unreleased material and a lot of my own productions. I've been wanting to do this for quite a while, so already had some concept / idea of how to approach it... At first it felt like this whole new challenge making a mix from a fixed, relatively small pool of tracks but then realized this is music which does fit together very well and does possess a particular aesthetic, and the process just flowed. It really does represent the Onysia sound, which I've worked very hard to curate and ensure a certain cohesion even as the scope of the label grows. The mix weaves in and out of more contemplative moments and clubbier sounds, which is how I like to experience music on the dancefloor, but it's also very tailored for home listening. It's always funny how you know a track so well, have been playing it for years, maybe you've even made it yourself. But you get a new perspective mixing it with other tracks, and depending on how it's presented within the context of a set. It's great to feel refreshed and finally share a label showcase mix !"
