A piece in which I use Erik Satie's original Gymnopedie(s) as a template form-wise to make my own. My goal here was to give off the feeling of a trek through a lightly hilly region.

Gymnopedie #1

Another Gymnopedie, though more of my own form than the last. Written for a standard string orchestra, it can be tricky to follow because it's in 5/8 for the majority of the piece; also due to conflicting motifs that create the feel of different meter(s). My ultimate goal was to convey the liveliness, ambiguity, and variance of the tides (Gymnopedie of the Tides).

Gymnopedie Des Marées (#2)

Flute feature with piano accompaniment; a bit more of a contemporary, almost through-composed direction than my last two tracks. Essentially the idea for this piece came from imagining a solute wishing to be one with it's environment, rather than just itself. 

Side note: submitting this piece for a composition competition, excited to see how that ends up!
