The second night after recording the Pijánkování 2 just with grand piano (Magix Independence VST), I decided to process the whole composition into an arrangement for a virtual jazz band. It sounds like fairy tale soundtrack or cinematic music for children.

It is also a quick test of my new VSTs from AIR Instruments. I´ve added parts for acoustic bass and jazz guitar (taken from NN-XT sampler), vibes (NN-XT), Hammond B3 organ (taken from AIR DB-33 virtual instrument), electric piano (AIR Velvet VST), bongo and finally drums (AIR Strike).


The whole composition was recorded and sequenced in Reason 10. Using Reason for more than 20 years now. The point is that I´m more and more into acoustic / cinematic sound and that is quite rarely produced in Reason, which is more electronic music oriented DAW I think.

I have come a long way from pure electronica to more organic sound with influences of jazz, triphop and soul music. I worked on the record for over a year and would like to continue the legacy of the golden era of big trip-hop bands like Portishead, Massive Attack, Morcheeba or Lamb. With the difference that I almost completely replaced sampling for my own music written from scratch and then using that material the modern way with all the chopping and live remixing. The album will be released digitally on streaming platforms and also as limited CD edition within a few weeks. Stay tuned!

Former member of SURROUNDING, one of the very first bands in northern Czechia playing electronic music in combination with live instruments (SAX / Vít Votruba, CLARINET / Ondřej Maršíček, BASS / David Havlík and GUITAR / Petra Börnerová).
