Trap of Love(remix)


In the late afternoon, as the sunlight began to tilt, Haruto and Kanon sat side by side at desks in the library near their school. The next Pair Test was science: “Explain the mechanism of energy through a simple experiment.” When the test theme was announced, Haruto proudly thumped his chest, saying, “This will be easy!” while Kanon murmured worriedly, “I wonder if we’ll be okay…”

“Alright, let’s start brainstorming ideas!” Haruto spread open his notebook and scribbled energetically. “Let’s do something flashy, like an air cannon!”

“An air cannon sounds fun, but isn’t it hard to explain how it works?” Kanon frowned slightly. “I think something simpler and easier for everyone to understand would be better.”

Haruto twirled his pen, thinking. “Then how about an experiment with balloons? Inflate a balloon and use the air to move something. Simple and fun, right?”

“What if we make a car powered by air?” Kanon suggested, sketching a small drawing in her notebook. “Attach wheels to a plastic bottle, and when the balloon releases air, the car moves.”

Haruto’s eyes lit up. “Oh, that’s great! It feels just like us.”
“…Like us?” Kanon tilted her head.
“See, the balloon’s air rushes out like me, full of energy, and the car supports it quietly, like you!”
Kanon gave a wry smile, a little embarrassed, and nodded. “Well… let’s go with that.”

They began building a prototype. In a corner of the library, they assembled a small car using a plastic bottle, chopsticks, straws, and balloons. Each time Haruto boldly said, “It should go like this!” Kanon calmly corrected, “That way the air might leak.”

In their first trial, the balloon inflated but leaked, and the car didn’t move at all.
“Aw, come on, this is just a failure!” Haruto scratched his head.
“It’s not a failure, just part of the process,” Kanon said quietly. “We need to think of a way to make the airflow more efficient.”

After repeated adjustments, the car finally slid smoothly across the desk. The two looked at each other and burst into laughter.
“We did it! This will definitely work!”

“But we also need to carefully explain the mechanism,” Kanon reminded, opening her notebook. “We have to make sure everyone understands how the balloon’s air moves the car.”

“Leave it to me! I’ll make it exciting!” Haruto declared, thumping his chest again.
“…Alright. But make sure you really understand the mechanism,” Kanon replied with a small smile.

By the time they left the library, the sun had already set. At the school gate, where the spring breeze blew gently, Haruto muttered,
“You know, working together like this is surprisingly fun.”
“Yeah,” Kanon smiled. “There are things you can’t think of alone, but you can see them together.”

“Then we’ll be the strongest pair again next time!”
“Yes, next time too.”
