Amidst the lush environs of his northwest roots, Manatee Commune has fermented an organically molded electronic sound that has been saturating festivals and teasing the synapses of audiophiles over the last few years, earning him the title of best electronic artist by the Seattle Weekly, a nationally aired feature on NPR's Weekend Edition, and being named a favorite by CMJ. With violin arrangements, nuanced programming and pressure-sensitive LED drum breaks peppering the audio-visual experience of his participatory live performances, Manatee aka Grant Eadie's tracks have grown tentacles that stretch deep into the dancefloor, fueled by natural overtones that he extracts from field recordings.

Led by the gorgeously clattering single "Clay" featuring Marina Price, his new Thistle EP represents a fresh beginning for the young producer and multi-instrumentalist. Reimagining his musical approach by opening his studio and microphone to friends, collaborators and loved ones, Eadie was able to release fountains of inventive energy from these deeply personal interactions, inspired by anybody who had a story, a melody or a stumbling beat to share. Simultaneously he re-invented his live show, refining the ingredients that keep his crowds dancing and hungry for more. The resulting Thistle EP amplifies the key elements that get Manatee Commune audiences bouncing, while cultivating his warm and textured production aesthetic to further complexity, layer by shimmering layer.

Out February 2016 on Bastard Jazz Recordings, the Thistle EP prefaces Manatee Commune's national tour as he navigates towards the release of his full length album with the label in early Summer.

 ‚Euneirophrenia’ (the peaceful state of mind after a pleasant dream...see we teach you things!) is an exercise in how best to use the sound of an elephant in a breakdown. Featuring one of the sickest bass line the label has released, this tune has rocked each and every time it's dropped, and been asked for repeatedly. 
 ‚Orenda’ goes deep. It is a lonesome melancholic beauty that slowly opens and delicately presents strings and subtle vocals. 
 ‚Tarantism’ evokes the fading days of summertime as winter approaches. Its lonely chords and sad strings pull on the heart. Gorgeous and very all day i dream.
 ‚Yügen’ closes out the EP with another slow burner. Gently blossoming from its drum led intro, the emotive melodies build while deeper tones play off them and punctuate to make it a gorgeous piece of music.

Montreal-based artist Kora (@kora-musique) takes to his own Saisons (@saisonsmusique) imprint to unveil a collaboration with Wuachuma (@wuachuma) and Keli Amarai titled 'Caroussel'. The track showcases a deep and ethereal house sound that's been synonymous with the Canadian talent. The rolling sythn-laden gem follows on from Kora and Wuachuma's inaugural collaboration 'Nuit d'Afrique', and their much lauded Tale & Tone outing 'Naavi'. Now with the additional musical talents of Keli Amarai, the emotive ballad is given delicate and organic touch making it primed for late night excursions on the dancefloor.

Melodic maestro French-Canadian producer @gabrhome and the versatile @evrenfurtuna use their different cultural backgrounds to create an evocative, watery melodic exploration named after that traveller in two worlds, the salmon, swimming now against, now with the current, in waters both sweet and salt. ‘Salmo Salar’ has a sizzling summer touch. Its intro blends mingling mood-inducing chords in voices and strings, taking us underwater before a light but determined beat kicks in, spangled with piano arpeggios and snatches of melody as the spiritual vocals continue to evoke a watery vibe. The sustained breakdown surprises with a new clarinet tune, almost middle eastern, marking a shift of phase, after which a freer, jazzy feel predominates. ‘Salmo Salar’ launches on Saisons on July 10.
