re: beginnings and endings

Yoo Soo Kim started hitting and strumming all sorts of musical instruments since he was 6 years old. A self-proclaimed multi-instrumentalist, he started with the piano and has since picked up the guitar, bass, drums, viola, violin, and more.

The diversity of the instruments he plays seeps into his music. Songs can range for minimally bare to lush and orchestrated. Growing up on old school Korean folk as a youngin' and seething on punk rock as a teenager, his music also carries a honed in eclecticism - a kitchen sink of different genres that, in the end, still sound like one distinct style.

Aside from solo adventures, Yoo Soo is the singer-songwriter for the indie rock band, Hemmingbirds.
