Alex Sonata & TheRio return to Anjunabeats with ‘Are We Dreaming / Higher’.

The duo may be familiar to many of our fans through their output on Enhanced and Armada Music. They first made contact in 2018 after regularly supporting each other’s releases. After many collaborations, the Scottish/Italian pairing decided to make it official in 2020, and Alex Sonata & TheRio was born. 

After making their label debut earlier this year on the Anjunabeats Rising Volume 4 with ‘Time’, the duo have two new tracks to share. ‘Are We Dreaming / Higher’ is out now on Anjunabeats.

French producer Matt Fax drops a new double A-side on Anjunabeats, ‘Thirds / Shelter’. 

David Ciekanski (aka Matt Fax) has been releasing music since the age of 15. In 2013, he provided a timeless remix of Jaytech’s ‘Labour Of Love’ and landed his first Guest Mix on Group Therapy. Since then, David has gone from strength to strength on labels such as Enhanced, Colorize, AVA Recordings and This Never Happened, releasing two artist albums and contributing to Colorize’s ‘Colorscapes’ mix compilation series.

Matt Fax’s jam-packed live schedule sees him continue the Colorscapes Tour this autumn alongside Dezza, Estiva and Bandes, support Gabriel & Dresden in Washington D.C. and perform at Dreamstate in Los Angeles.

The Anjunabeats Rising EP series returns for its 13th instalment, featuring new music from Laura van Dam, Luccio & Rune Noire, and Supernature.

Over the last two decades, Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeats label has launched the careers of some of the most respected names in electronic music: Andrew Bayer, ARTY, Audien, ilan Bluestone, Seven Lions and Mat Zo, to name just a few. In January 2021, the label launched Anjunabeats Rising: a new EP series highlighting the next generation of producers and championing emerging artists from around the world. 

Anjunabeats Rising introduced over 40 new acts to the label during 2021, including GVN, Alex Sonata & TheRio, Naz, Stephen Kirkwood, HRRTZ, Bexxie and more. After a brief hiatus, the series now returns.

Labelled by 1001tracklists.com as the 'future of dance', Amsterdam's Laura van Dam honed her production skills whilst working as an A&R for Doorn Records, graduating onto the label in 2019 with 'Skyfly'. 'Set Me Free' is the first of several tracks you'll be hearing from Laura on Anjunabeats this year - she also joins us at Group Therapy Weekender London this September.

A producer and DJ based in Miami, Luccio has supported some of trance's biggest names at shows across the Magic City. He teams up with Rune Noire on 'Try', first heard on Fatum's Anjunabeats Worldwide 10 compilation.

Rounding off the EP are UK duo Supernature, aka Kevin Thorpe and Zed Sinclair. 'Somewhere In Time' pays homage to a wide selection of Kevin and Zed's influences, including CamelPhat, Tangerine Dream, 80's sci-fi and filmmaker Christopher Nolan.

Spencer Brown & Artem Stolyarov (aka Arty / ALPHA 9) unveil their new collaborative EP, ‘Ariel / Afterlife’.

Debuted during Spencer’s set at Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy 350 celebrations in Prague, this is the second time Spencer and Artem have joined forces, ‘No Going Back’ from 2018. ‘Ariel’ also featured on ‘Anjunabeats Volume 15’, mixed by Above & Beyond.

Spencer has, quietly, had one of his most prolific years to date: he released a full artist album in January, followed by two companion EPs, a collaboration with fellow San Franciscan Qrion and co-produced the title track of Ben Bohmer’s ‘Phases’ EP.  Spencer recently hosted a charity livestream in San Francisco that raised over $8000 for the family of SB-fan Greg Cohen and the Sarcoma Foundation.

Meanwhile, Arty’s ALPHA 9 project has gone from strength to strength in 2020. He’s released a string of singles on Anjunabeats across the summer and contributed no less than three tracks to Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeats Volume 15 compilation album. 

We’re excited to say there is much, much more in the pipeline from ALPHA 9 to come this year.

Biography
Since their first release, 'The Awakening', York has been a renown name on the international electronic music scene. Catchy guitar hooks and delicate dance textures have caused a sensation in clubs, on the radio & in the charts across Europe. 

Torsten Stenzel began his musical career early in his childhood, learning the piano from the tender age of 5 when he began his classical training. Until the age of 18 classical music and theory were his life, even playing the church organ in his home town for 2 years. 
In the early 90's his orientation changed and he discovered the rapidly growing techno/house movement. Little by little he put together his own studio and combined parts of his own musical production skills under the broad control of classical theory.

Torsten is currently one of the hottest and most in demand producers in Germany having worked with the likes of Tina Turner, Nelly Furtado, Jennifer Paige, All Saints, Moby, Mike Oldfield, Tarja Turunen, Faithless, Vanessa Mae, Chris Rea, Rick Nowels, Rob Davis and Nadja Benaissa. 
With 20 years of production experience and several Gold & Platinum awards, the 'Echo' Nomination and 3 million sold records, Torsten Stenzel is without a doubt a 'Master of Music'.

Jörg Stenzel has since the age of 11 been interested in stringed instruments, the guitar in particular, and characteristic of great guitarists such as Hendrix and Santana. 
He has become an outstanding contributor in the studio, and in 1997, while he was busy with ideas to combine guitar anthems with current house and trance grooves, Torsten joined him with his own ideas and 'YORK' was born.

Jörg's very talented guitar skills are still today widly respected within the dance scene. Furthermore considered the key elements of several 'York' productions.
