'Ehre sei Gott' by JM Bach is a spirited, festive movement which celebrates the song of the angels to the shepherds and very appropriately closes in homage to a new year (For this the host of angels are glad / And greet us with such a new year).  Recorded in rehearsal at the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall at University of York in January 2015.  Conducted by Peter Seymour and accompanied by Ben Horden.

(By the waters of Babylon,
there we sat down and wept
when we remembered thee, O Zion.)

Illic interrogaverunt nos,
qui captivos abduxerunt nos,
verba cantionum. 

(For there they that carried us away captive
required of us a song.)

Quomodo cantabimus
canticum Domini in terra aliena?

(How shall we sing the Lord’s song 
in a strange land?)

In salicibus in medio eius,
suspendimus organa nostra.

(We hanged up our harps upon the willows
in the midst thereof.)
