Dublin’s garage connoisseur Prozak shares with us five clean-cut steppers on Holy Spirit EP; pairing UKG with ambience and breaks with jubilant club sound palettes. 

The killer record opens out with triumphant, easygoing garage on ‘1996’. Meanwhile the title track is a raucous beast, explosive breaks and frenetic vocals that tear through the dubwise breakdown. ‘Want Ur Luv’ is full of romantic energy and cascading melodies; diva vocals float over classic two-step in blissed-out fashion on ‘Hold Me Down’. Lighthearted glimmering ear candy continues on ‘Higher’; a high-energy rave roller with a retro feel.

The monthly hike with Virgil always concludes with a visit to 點心餅家 - Touch Of The Heart Bakery. A morning connecting with nature and reminiscing about Hong Kong always leads us to this legendary institution. Established in 1922, by a family of immigrants from Hong Kong. This place never fails to fascinate me on multiple fronts every single time I go. Whether it is the sizzling tray of egg tarts coming straight out of the oven, seeing the bakers zoned in, creating magic or its ability to transport me spiritually to Hong Kong. Something I don’t think I can comprehend myself.

So to celebrate 100 Years of Touch Of The Heart Bakery. We have curated this special project with some mega talented people. Hopefully this reflecting 4 Generations, dedication to the craft. The craft of literally touching hearts and creating smiles. Also was super to see Florence, a long time friend and next in line to take over at the bakery. Both being in the same year class at Chinese School decades ago, sharing a love for Marvin Gaye, Ryo Fukui and of course edits. She left me with some wonderful words by her late grandfather (Heard this from Jimmy Iovine too!) - “Give yourself time, to make something that will last forever. Egg Tart. A Timeless Art”

Noiro straight out from Paris, kicks off the compilation with “La Gente Peluda” showcasing his distinctive sound. From Lima, Peru we proudly welcome Alejandro Cuestas to the family with “Evidente” a twisted piece of Broken House, gamy shots and subtle vocals adorn the tune. We continue the compilation with another Parisian artist who is not a stranger to the Deep in Dis crew, Rawaï brings an underground peak time Garage House tune. From Brazil we welcome Rassan to the family, after his amazing rave mixtape for the ‘Deep in Dis Mixes’ series, Rassan drops a deep UKG tune with ragga vocals and deep chords.
For the last three trax we go back Europe, United Kingdom. The Brighton lads F:Lix and GY96 (Omertà Records) bring to the table the deep/old school jungle flava tunes while our mate Tom Carruthers (L&T Recordings) take us back to the early days of Bleep Techno in the north of England with “Orbit”. Heavy sub bass, minimalistic patterns and an alien vocal.
