What Do The Lonely Do At Christmas?

The talent known as Yoshi was born in Brooklyn, New York, the County of Kings. The next Queen of R&B and Reggae Fusion, Yoshi is a first-generation American, of parents born in Barbados. Yoshi's love for music is undeniable. She has been singing since she was 8 years old and has thought about nothing but singing since. As a kid, her father purchased a tape recorder so she could practice singing Whitney Houston songs. From there, a spark ignited. Yoshi detected a burning desire for music and song. 
Yoshi's first formal training was during Junior High school, with the Jackie Robinson Steppers, under the keen guidance of Mr. Tyrone Brown. A few years later, she decided to work with the legendary vocal coach Craig Dairy. Dairy has worked with urban music superstars like Lil Moe, Alicia Keys, and Mary J Blige, to name a few. "It's fantastic to work with legends like Mr. Brown, and Mr. Dairy. Most importantly, they truly care about their student's well-being.” After High School, she began exploring the open mic circuit in New York City. Once producers noticed her strong singing talent, Yoshi started to record her own songs. "When recording new songs one has to understand it's an up and down experience. One day you’re great, the next day it seems like nothing is going right". Although recording can become a roller coaster ride, you must keep moving forward.” 
Yoshi credits Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Chaka Khan, Jackie Wilson, and Whitney Houston, as inspirations for her dreams and goals. "I hope I can continue to carry the torch of powerful soul singers for the next generation.” She drew further inspiration from the Motown sound, which influenced her strong soulful vocal style. She also appreciates, and studies contemporary music. "My debut album will include various genres of music. I also believe it's important to establish versatility.” 
Now Yoshi is ready to leave her own mark on the music industry, poised to take it by storm with her strong, edgy, and sexy style. She has an impressive body of work including Pop, R&B, Dance, Hip Hop, and Dancehall. Her debut single, "Pull Up On Me," is sure to captivate audiences with its smooth and sexy vibe; which you can listen to on all streaming platforms. 
She continues to work on her artistry and develop her craft by constantly writing and producing. She's also a member of the Recording Academy's 'Grammy U' which helps foster the next generation of music artists, connecting them with industry professionals. 
Additionally, Yoshi is a rising senior, studying vocal performance at the ROC Nation School at Long Island University sharpening her skills.
