The term veteran is too often banded around in dance music. But in Olivier Giacomotto’s case it’s deadly accurate. His discography reaches back over a decade, taking in labels such as, Get Physical, Global Underground, Stil Vor Talent, Suara, Einmusika, Eleatics, 3000 Grad and more (much more actually); in between all that he finds time to run Definitive with long time collaborative partner John Aquaviva, all of which is before a touring schedule that’s taken him around the world.

“Olivier has been a close-knit member of the Yoshitoshi family over the years with many phenomenal originals and remixes,” says Sharam, “so it’s only fitting to launch our first release of 2022 with his amazing double A sided release that’s been a massive head-turner in many of my sets”.

Daylight’s Delight / Time Feat. Lady Vale are the dictionary definition of an AA-side; two impeccable slices of melodic techno that force any listener into the difficult position of trying to pick a winner. To say there’s a subjective fly-paper between them would be an understatement, both are rich with Olivier’s sharp production skills and infectious riffs, whilst Time also boasts a vocal courtesy of Lady Vale’s sultry musings.

Although he’s been producing for over 20 years, Darksidevinyl is a man who has really come into his own in 2022. Recent releases have seen him touch down at Wired, Connected, MoBlack, Nitegrooves and Selador; the latter release, ‘Plastic Dream’, picking-up the ‘cover’ on Spotify’s coveted Electronic Rising playlist.
His style is unique, fusing Afro-influences with house, all wrapped in a blanket of deep warmth, as Red Face, the lead on this AA side, demonstrates. But the track doesn’t stop there in its multi-cultural influences as it also infuses a sultry vox and Latin rhythms. “The idea came to me in a cafe,” explains DSV, “I was sat having a coffee when this track came on in the background and the idea flowed from there. It’s funny how inspiration can strike at any given place or moment!”
Meanwhile, Black Shine takes an instrumental path, and looks to a soaring string arrangement, which is almost Bond-esque in style and feel. If ever a dance track deserved a Maurice Binder / 007 credit sequence, this is it! The emotive, soundtrack feel was entirely deliberate though, as DSV continues to explain, “It really was written and produced for people who love that feeling of pure emotion on the dancefloor; the essence of that moment when the hairs stand-up on your arms, neck or both!”'

Eddie Amador - House Music (Message Mix)[OUT NOW]

It takes a lot to achieve the status of ‘legendary’ or ‘era-defining’ in dance music, it’s sands shift so quickly artists, genres and labels have often come and gone before you realise. So it’s with some pride and deserved justification that Yoshitoshi marks its 20th anniversary with celebratory remix packages of its most iconic tracks. Already riding high in the Beatport charts with the success of the Uto Karem and Robosonic mixes of Eddie Amador’s ‘House Music’, the latter of which has spent the past month in the overall top 5, the label now plans a one, two punch with the follow-up: Alcatraz’ seminal ‘Giv Me Luv’.

“We thought long and hard about how we scheduled this 20th anniversary project,” says label boss Sharam, “little point launching big and then following up with a whimper so we deliberately chose Alcatraz for this difficult task. But the challenge didn’t end there; a massive record still deserves a massive remix and I think it’s safe to say we found the perfect woman for the job...”

Step forward undisputed techno titan Nicole Moudaber who leapt at the opportunity to remix the track. “I’ve got so many fond memories of ‘Giv Me Luv’, it was one of my favourite tunes from my formative clubbing days,” recalls Nicole happily, “so, when Yoshi mentioned the idea of me remix-ing it I just couldn’t say no. In fact I was so familiar with Alcatraz I was already awash with ideas of what I could, or should, do with it. As I got into the mix one of those ideas just grew and grew, namely an extended breakdown that constantly builds; layering the memorable vocal to an intense pay-off and (hopeful) moment of real dancefloor drama.” 

Nicole’s humble description doesn’t quite do the end result justice, which is a modern, masterful take on the classic. Her iconic techno beats, dark twisted stabs and arrangement of ‘that’ bassline drive toward the mentioned break, which will undoubtedly rival the fireworks of any impending NYE celebrations. In fact, expect this track to be THE soundtrack to many a dance floor come the all important hand-over to 2015.

And, just in case that weren’t enough, Yoshi has also secured the skills of Tent Cantrelle to deliver the perfect deep house foil to Nicole’s techno ferocity as Sharam concludes, “We wanted a real slice of contemporary funk from the companion mix. Yoshi is synonymous with exploring the line between deep house and techno, perhaps no more so than during its formative years, so this re-mix completes the package perfectly.”

Taking a step back from packed Yoshi Classics, we’ve decided to keep it simple with this one, Kings of Tomorrow’s “I Want You For Myself.” This tune needs no introduction; it’s a vocal powerhouse that had dancers singing along worldwide in the summer of ’98. Now it returns with a remix from none other than Yoshitoshi label boss Sharam.

One of Yoshitoshi’s most iconic techno signings, Chiapet brought two hugely memorable singles to the label in its early days. The first, Tick Tock, saw its makeover last year with three amazing mixes from Perc, Loco & Jam, and Robosonic. It’s June 2003, and the power trio of Tony, Halo & Hipp-e have formed a supergroup under the guise The 6400 Crew to unleash a 12-inch that would take the summer by storm. “Dubb Me Some’tin Fresh” quickly garnered support from the upper echelons of the DJ community for its unrelenting groove and its unabashed tribute to the music of producers like Lee Scratch Perry and King Tubby. Fast forward 13 years, and this single further cements itself in the history of Yoshitoshi with a Classic remix pack.

It’s with great pleasure that we welcome LV boss Hector to the label, and Sinisa Tamamovic follows up his two recent EP’s for Yoshitoshi with his powerful contribution. Add to this a deeper remix from Sharam and you have three enormous remixes that each command serious attention. Hector’s mix keeps many aspects of the original, modernizing them with his powerful grooves. Aaaron is a producer that’s been on our radar for a long time. As demonstrated by his beautiful and stripped back recent work for Connected Frontline, Aaaron’s tracks have developed a certain maturity that has become impossible to ignore.

Following that signature style, the grooves on Black Arp, his debut EP for Yoshitsohi, flow smartly from his experiences in Berlin’s minimal techno/tech house scene. Never too abrupt or intense, ‘Black Arp’ and ‘Keep Doin’ It’ are versatile tracks for many different atmospheres and set styles. Like much of his music, the percussion throughout features elements of tribal house, producing a playful energy and an extra level of accessibility.

Additionally, we’re very excited to welcome DJ T., another respected Berliner who really needs no introduction, to the label for the first time. He gives the EP a rough edge with this remix of Black Arp. The distorted synth leads and stabs here filter in and out over a driving tech house groove, giving the release a peak-time option for those in need.

When Sharam released his sophomore album Retroactive last year, we knew that some of the tracks needed to stand alone as singles, with remixers from some of the top names in house and techno to give them fresh, new dimensions. We begin our journey with the leading track “Arpi,” featuring two astounding remixes from Moonwalk and Dubspeeka and a new VIP mix from Sharam.

Moonwalk, fresh off a huge 2016 that saw releases on Stil Vor Talent and Diynamic among others, leave nothing to the imagination and dive headlong into a blistering remix that shows off the Italian duo’s studio chops. Punchy drums and a relentless, arpeggiated lead make their mix a bona fide heater on the floor.

Where Sharam’s original opts for big, bold arrangement, Dubspeeka (working here under his guise dubspeekaRMX) strips down everything to a raw, skeletal techno groove that paints Arpi’s melancholic lead over a canvas of brooding drums and bass. OC & Verde made a splash on Yoshitoshi last summer with their huge remix of Veerus’s “Beat That,” topping the progressive house charts with one of our favorite records of 2017. We knew it was only a matter of time before we invited them back for a proper single. Not only did they deliver something spectacular, they did it with the help of one of our favorite up-and-coming duos, Londoners Eli & Fur.

“Sweet Perfection” delivers the goods with the boys’ glistening production and the girls’ gorgeous vocals. The track is at once deep, driving, and enticing, a fine effort from two of the UK’s most exciting acts and a fitting release to help kick off 2018. We’ve also included their ‘Stranger Things’ dub, which strips the original of its vocal for a darker affair.

Label boss Sharam contributes what is already his second remix of 2018, continuing the signature sound he put forth on his recent Collecti album. His remix is a groovy techno journey laced with his signature drum n’ bass and melodic influences, creating a dynamic dance floor weapon. Frankyeffe has been making quite a bit of noise lately, with top-notch releases on labels from Filth On Acid and Terminal M to Mau5trap.  The Italian’s talent is undeniable, as his work shows a deep understanding of how to make hard-driving techno grooves juxtapose captivating melodies with ease.  This skill comes to a head on his debut solo EP for Yoshitoshi, Eterea.

The EP’s A-side takes dancers on a 10-minute journey through dark sonic depths populated with massive kick drums and epic percussion, right up through finely delicate sections of melodic bliss.  The track explores a wide variety of intense emotion throughout its epic duration, making “Eterea” a unique tool for DJ’s who like to pepper darker sets with divine moments of beauty.  On the flip side, we have “Red Giant,” which continues the EP’s theme of light versus dark, shifting effortlessly from minor to major tonalities throughout.  Its swirling synth lines give the track a bubblier quality than its predecessor, but it too will find a happy home in the sets of the adventurous techno DJ.

As if the two originals weren’t enough, we’re honored to welcome Nice native Nicolas Masseyeff to the label, a producer we’ve had our eyes on for some time.  The French veteran cooked up a very special version of “Red Giant” that deconstructs the original’s chirpy synth lead over a dark, rolling, and supremely catchy groove.  Nicolas’s addition to the EP rounds it out nicely with something that will work well in both techno and tech house sets.

Following his successful Collider EP last year on Yoshitoshi along with his remix of Luzon’s classic “Manila Sunrise", Khainz is back and this time with a bag full of gems. We're delighted to announce the Swiss wunderkind will be releasing his third artist album (and first since 2012), Fingerprint, on Yoshitoshi in June of 2019. From this upcoming album we have extracted the Reflect EP; a teaser that features three of the album tracks, each representing Khainz’s production range and studio wizardry. 

We kick things off with Next, a perfect intro track that sets the stage for the energy to come. The track begins with slow and heavenly synthesizers, teasing listeners for a while with fluttery melodies before dropping into one of Khainz’s signature, stomping grooves. Beautiful phrases continue throughout, making Next the kind of track that makes dancers close their eyes and feel every moment. Next comes Reflect (no pun intended), a tune you may have heard in an episode of Yoshitoshi Radio, as it’s been a staple of Sharam’s sets for months. It picks up right where Next leaves off, with a dark, impending vibe that develops into a huge melodic techno banger. A mysterious vocal hook appears throughout the track which is sure to get stuck in your head, as anyone who’s heard the track thus far is aware. Finally, it wouldn’t be a Khainz release without some hard-driving techno, and Reconnect delivers on that front. The tune is impeccably produced, each drum hit and bass sound carefully sculpted in Khainz’s sonic laboratory for maximum force. This one will find a happy home in the crates of DJ’s who need a secret weapon for peak moments.

If these three tunes are a preview of what’s to come on Fingerprint, then we’re truly in for something special (and, having had the privilege of hearing it, we can assure you that’s the case). Khainz continuously sets a high bar for both the quality and quantity of his productions, churning out amazing tracks like a machine. Yoshitoshi returns for our first official Ibiza compilation since 2015, this time as the latest edition of our Deep End series. Including 23 of the best Yoshitoshi tracks in recent memory and two never-before heard exclusives, Deep End Ibiza was curated with the party in mind, whether you’re on the white isle or not. 

The compilation features smash cuts from the likes of Sharam, Audiojack, Steve Lawler, OC & Verde, Citizen Kain, Reinier Zonneveld, Themba, Animal Trainer, and many, many more. Sharam contributes a special “In Dub” mix of his track “Lobi,” which forgoes the track’s vocal in favor of a big acid riff, taking the record into another dimension. We also have Diego Barrera’s remix of PQM’s “The Flying Song,” one of our Splice remix contest winners from last summer. It’s a deep take on the progressive classic that will sound perfect at the pool or the after party.

Enamour has come out of nowhere in the last year, the DC native putting in hours of dedication both in the studio and booth to claim numerous top 10 Beatport records and support from some of the biggest names in dance music, including Deep Dish, Pete Tong, and Danny Howard. His collaboration with Rinzen, “Quark,” made a huge splash this spring as part of our Four Points III package, and then he quickly followed up with an ace remix for Made By Pete. Now, Enamour makes his solo debut on Yoshitoshi with “Amnesia” and “Taboo,” two blistering cuts that demonstrate exactly why the up-and-comer is a force to be reckoned with.

“Amnesia” sits squarely between the worlds of techno and progressive house. It’s an aggressive tune that effortlessly fuses a tough, peak-time groove with the wistful arpeggiated melodies that he has become known for. A beefy, distorted bass riff takes up the energy level even further, causing absolute wreckage in the club. “Taboo” is more of the same, but on a slightly deeper and tribal note. The track builds with incredible intensity as Enamour’s analog synth crescendos and expertly programmed percussion lead into a powerhouse drop and true hands-in-the-air moment. 

It’s truly exciting to see such talent from a DC producer, the city Yoshitoshi has called home since its inception in 1994. Enamour is a true talent to look out for. Grab “Amnesia / Taboo” on Beatport and Spotify on August 2nd.

After making a massive debut with Rinzen last year on Yoshitoshi, Enamour is back with another collaborator, Nox Vahn, for a special two track EP, which includes a remix from German up-and-comers GNTN. Enamour and Nox Vahn deliver two enormous originals that would sound as fitting in Black Rock City as in Watergate. The title track is built around giant pad swells and complex, percussive grooves which take their time to envelop you in an astounding mixture of sound and space. “Dilemma” is a bit deeper, making use of a catchy, Phrygian-based melody that is equal parts exotic and exciting. It’s the perfect playa track and is sure to be all over BPM and Tulum this year. Finally, GNTN rounds things out with a swirling remix of “Sleep Paralysis,” turning the original into a more laid-back groover for building energy. We’re very excited to kick off 2020 with Enamour back on Yoshitoshi and with Nox Vahn and GNTN making their label debuts. Enjoy!
