the ice was stuck to the windshield
i woke you up with my 4:30 alarm
to drive your car to my new job
i was making coffee at a coffee shop

with the sound of you cooking and the tv screen
and we don't say a thing
cause we don't have a thing to say
picking fights over the smallest thing
saying shit that we don't really mean
turning away when i kiss you
and we did kiss now and then
but not a lot

your pretty face and the cats all sleeping
on your L-shaped couch
while the neighbors were cheering
and your pretty face
made it feel okay
it was nice
to share each others life
it was nice for a bit
