Torie b2b Left/Right - Live @ Undisclosed Tupperware [Rugdoctor Therapy]

It's been a hot minute since I've put a F|S mix out! But as the weather gets warmer, pandemic restrictions are lifting, & there's finally a sense of optimism and genuine stoke about the future in the air, I've been finding myself loving the groovy tunes of house/disco/throwbacks & the like. 

This mix is a collection of tracks intended to create joy – listen while you're hanging out with friends, enjoying the sunshine, starting your day, or just want to get a good dance in. Here's to summer, to returning to dancefloors, and to that moment of pure bliss when you're lost in the sound. Enjoy!

Forms | States 07 - Torie [Summer Grooves]

I had the absolute pleasure of opening up the floor for KiNK's live set – one of my long-time favorite artists, and a true magician in his craft – and Galen of Sunset Soundsystem. Dive into 2 hours of minimal, classic, groovy house tunes and onwards... 

It was an early August night at Public Works SF, my first time performing on the main stage at PW & playing on the V10 mixer. I wanted my sound & energy to grow with the crowd, to bring excitement to the dancefloor as people filled in... to prepare for what was an incredible night of music from the artists to follow. 

This gig was a last-minute add-on for me as I filled in for a friend & I couldn't have been more honored to step into her shoes for this moment. It was also the same week that the music community lost two house music legends - K-HAND and Paul Johnson - so I felt it was only fitting to pay my respects with a few of their tracks as well.

Torie - Live at KiNK [opening set]

I decided to shake things up and start 2022 with something fresh and surprising — playing a breaks / left field set on the Dusty Rhino at It's A New Day + Breakfast Of Champions Block Party 2022. It felt like the perfect place to try something new as the history of the Rhino and Cowboys sound has so much breaks in it… it was time for me to explore a new genre. 

I've played on the Rhino for the last few years at BOC and it's always been home & family for me. It meant the world for me to be back here surrounded by so many incredible people and to be reminded how much I love this community. Truly a pleasure. 

This was SO MUCH FUN and I can't wait to bring more breaks into 2022! ENJOY⚡️

Quite literally, we're on a boat - a Desert Hearts boat party cruising around the San Francisco Bay, to be exact 🚢 

Torie and Jessica took to the rooftop deck to finish out the month of June with an hour of grooves – house, disco, breakbeats, techno, and a little bit of everything in between.  Thanks to DJ Dials & the Desert Hearts crew for having us out. This was a blast n' a half 🔊

Torie b2b Jessica - Live at Desert Hearts Boat Party, SF

I was stoked to return to Northern Nights Music Festival for my second year playing – I threw down a Friday night set at the Submerged Sessions stage for an hour of trippy vocals, rolling baselines, house, minimal, techno n' breaks. This was quite fun to hear these tracks blasting out on a proper Danley soundsystem (thanks, Jobi!!) – it's one of my fav sets I've played in awhile. Thanks to everyone who joined 💜

Torie - Live at Northern Nights: Submerged Sessions

We cruised to the trash fence for a Tuesday morning sunrise cruise on the @dusty-rhino-1 - a blissful adventure to watch the sun peak over the mountains in the Black Rock desert (and play music to the Burning Man marathon runners, lol)with a gathering of some of my favorite people.

Playing sunrise on an art car is always one of the most unique experiences I think you can create on playa – this was an absolutely surreal morning & I am so grateful. 

Hope you enjoy this set as much as I did playing it (and reliving it over and over in my head).

This may have been one of my favorite sets I've played... ever.

Here's my set from that one damn sunny day we had in San Francisco amidst so much rain. What a way to kick off a new year: back on our beloved Dusty Rhino, still standing on a CDJ case to see over the decks, at the annual It's A New Day x Breakfast of Champions block party at The Great Northern.   

Enjoy an hour-long journey through all sorts of breaking-broken-beats n' things.

Saturday late-night to Sunday sunrise, just after daylight savings kicked in, I had the pleasure of taking the main stage at The Afternoon Umbrella Friends' annual Umbrella Weekend festival in Jacumba, CA. From trippy wee-hours breakbeats to some groovy melodic breaks as the sun came up - playing a sunrise set will continue to be one of my absolute favorite things. you just might catch a bit of b2b with dernis for the last few tracks too 🙃

It was my first time playing (talk about nerves, lol) after attending and learning so much from the MT crew for years. Their 30-year history has had a huge influence on me - my sound, my musical path, the events I throw - in countless ways and I was grateful to join this lineup for a Halloween celebration.

As San Francisco heads into a "shelter in place" lockdown for the next few weeks, I've found myself with ample time to explore more tunes I don't get to play out often. I love liquid drum n' bass in the mornings, and haven't played this genre in awhile, so this was a fun way to dive back into things.

This is a snippet of a live stream I tested out on my Facebook page this morning – a wonderful 40 minutes of liquid that really helped get me through this weird Monday.

Torie’s sound is multifaceted – to say the least.
