for the second iteration of our You Mean So Much CAST series, we have Jelle (From The Block) @jellefromtheblock who opened the floor at the very first party we had back in april 2022.
"When I recorded this set, I wanted to create something that would capture what a night out at You Mean So Much would sound to me. A musical journey starting off slow & easy-going, like when the first people start to enter the club. As the dancefloor begins to fill up, the music gradually builds up in energy as well. You would hear a nice mix of disco & house tracks throughout the night, some familiar & some unknown. You would dance with a crowd of music lovers & people just there for a good night out. I have very fond memories playing at the first edition & going there myself several times. I really enjoyed trying to translate these memories into this mix."

third CAST & we have a really summer-y set recorded by the one & only Eclectic Elektra @eclectic_elektra. we had her setting the vibes at our party back in march 2023. she now co-runs a party (named Cosmic Circuit) mirroring the energy & blend of genres/styles she loves to display during her live sets.

fourth CAST & a special one as this was live recorded at the party we threw back in may 2023. @murrinmusic & @glenstefani (name is still 'work in progress') delivered nearly 4hours of complet bonkers from all genres, all under 110bpm, ROOM ONE HUNDRED style.
"First time we played together on this one & it was a lot of fun! We selected a couple of hours of this recorded dubby/chuggy b2b which we feel represents best the journey we took the crowd to."

fifth CAST & we are celebrating summer 2023. it's hot, sunny, there is a warm breeze in the air... & so we are at SAGE beach & today is the 14th of July. there is a special YMSM edition happening & we are about to dance to an eclectic selection of music (with extra bongos & cowbells) by the one & only Daniel Wang @dannytaenzer. we hope you can feel the smiles & happiness all through these 90mins of this live recorded set. guess you had to be there otherwise :)

ninth mix in the series with Davide Del Vecchio @davidedelvecchio, an Italian DJ based in London, who boasts a two-decade career in electronic music. with an extensive record collection spanning genres, he adapts seamlessly to different atmospheres. Del Vecchio's extended sets offer a unique musical journey, blending sounds & styles creatively.
"What inspired me for this mix is a city that always challenged me in a good way, inspiring me: Berlin. Where the crowd pays attention of what you play, when you play & how you play."

Raised in the heart of the Balearic homeland, Dj Aficionado cruises in at the right moment with an appropriately sun kissed selection. Currently based in Berlin, he has found a cosy corner on Refuge Worldwide where he regularly rides the waves with his show Francachela. Pathing his way through the nightlife, he pushes big-room Balearic sounds around town with Orbita, a freshly minted party he runs alongside Llupe. Recorded in a free flowing manner this offering includes Downtempo, Street Soul, Italo and more to wash down an afternoon Cava and bring in that sunset you’ve been waiting for.

Mix of the Week #590: Frunk29

Dea Barandana is an artist we are thrilled to see make the step from his local scene towards the international circuit. Originally from Jakarta, where he started out mixing records for a local breakdance crew, he was eventually throwing warehouse parties before ending up one island further, on Bali, where he’s a familiar face at Potato Head Beach Club and Studio Eksotika.

This mix he did for us lays out his talent for weaving together unfound rarities from then and now, connecting dots between different musical tropes of the Asian diaspora. The result is a meandering journey across forgotten recordstores and dusty crates, reminiscent of island life and the smell of kretek, to modern club music and back. 

Starting off like a warm breeze, the mix quickly gears up to grooving disco and bright Asian synthpop. Further down the 100-minute trip, the journey spirals from its effervescent moods down into darker, more spiritual affairs, with compelling percussion and sturdier basslines — just before locking down with laidback, dreamlike endnote to seal it off.
