I wasn't getting anywhere trying to record some guitar music, so I picked up the bass and this came out. Even the lead line is done on the bass!

I really liked the sparseness of just the bass and drums in the "verse" parts, so I spent a lot of time focusing on the sounds that aren't so readily apparent in the mix, like the light octaves of sine waves running underneath the track, and the noisy oscillators filling out some sonic space, and messing with the frequency ranges of almost all of the instrumentation.

Anyway, hope you like it. I'm pretty happy with this one.

Best enjoyed with headphones.

So here's a first for the You Are An Explorer project: a song without any "organic" instruments. All the sounds you hear were synthesized in Reason. This is a bit more of an ambient piece than a post-rock one, but I hope it's enjoyable nonetheless.

You Are An Explorer is a three-piece instrumental group from Edmonton, Canada. The trio uses heavy grooves to create melodic, layered soundscapes with clear movement and direction.
