This recording is our interpretation of a traditional ritual lament song "dalai" from the Tusheti region in Georgia. Originally, the song is performed by a soloist and a choir without any instrumental accompaniment. 

"Dalai" is a Georgian folk poem song.
The name comes from the refrain("dala ჲ...") that is attached to each Tayyip verse. "Dalai" stands in complete isolation in all Georgian folk music - it ends with an alternation of speaking and unison choir, and the horseman (pronouncing "Dalai") begins in a sad tone.
There is an opinion that "Dalai" came to Tusheti from the Vainakhs and Dagestan culture (in Dargvin musical folklore "Dalai" means song).

Unearthed by Mike Peden for BBE Music, Per Husby Septett’s ‘The Peacemaker’ is a beautiful, deep and under-the-radar small big band set recorded in 1976 by the elite of Norway’s jazz cognoscenti, led by pianist and band leader Per Husby.

Originally issued for Husby on the Studentersamfundets Plateselskap label by the Student Society in Trondheim, Norway, this obscure jazz rarity had no budget for PR or distribution, and with just a mere 500 copies pressed sales were scarce; it soon became a collectors item in Norway and across the globe. The album creates a big-sounding dynamic mix of original compositions by Per Husby and covers, including Harold Land’s modal masterpiece title cut ‘The Peacemaker’, plus a top-draw selection of tunes encompassing post bop, modal, bossa and ballads by the likes of Kenny Wheeler, Cedar Walton and Charlie Parker.

Reissued with original artwork and the approval of Per Husby himself, who has also provided the sleeve notes, ‘The Peacemaker’ is now available once again for download, streaming, CD and as a double 180g LP cut at 45rpm by the Grammy-nominated Carvery studio.

What you hear is the sonified expression of the 3D structure of the protein with PDB ID 1akg (ALPHA-CONOTOXIN PNIB FROM CONUS PENNACEUS, see: http://dx.doi.org/10.2210/pdb1AKG/pdb), translated into an orchestral setting (koto [a Japanese string instrument], cello, double bass, viola, flute, and fluegelhorn). The koto is used to express the primary, secondary and tertiary structure of the protein.  

The piece reflects a classical period model of the hierarchical mapping to describe the 3D folded structure of a protein in musical space. The musical mapping begins from the primary amino acid sequence (GCCSLPPCALSNPDYCX) and encodes multiple hierarchical structural levels, and adds musical experimentation. 

We use the concept proposed by Yu, Buehler et al. (ACS Nano) to map amino acid sequences to music, and augment the mapping by adding more data. The 3D folded structure of a protein is coded by inserting strummed chords and interwoven melodies that code for the geometric arrangement of amino acids, the protein's tertiary structure.
