I take a lot of inspiration from 70s and 80s soul and funk artists. It was an amazing time for musical movements and Roy Ayers changed the game. For me its all about his passion and realness. ‘Everybody Loves the Sunshine’ is a classic and one that I wanted to share with with a new generation. 

Im really enjoying working with these old school vocals. Taking classic the blue sounds of R&B and rebirthing them for the bass generation. Rhythm & Bass.

Reminiscent nostalgia springs to mind when we listen to ‘Distant Memories’, a seamless expression of old-school jazz roots & new age production.
Almost a dozen layers of trumpet are layered upon each other, accompanied by a minimal drum beat & flowing chord changes to create a short yet succinct piece that requires repeat listening on the regular. 
The track is a collaborative piece between BrassTracks, a Brooklyn based trumpeter /producer / drummer duo & Alexander Lewis, Multi instrumentalist / producer recently graduated from Manhattan School of Music Jazz Program. 
We’re delighted to give this one away for free as an early xmas present ! Heres hoping this isn’t the last link up between these guys.

It's spring time, so about time for another seasons compilation in the form of "Spring In Jakarta". AllttA is a new project by 20syl and Mr. J. Medeiros and it will be release by our homies of On and On Records. We have had mutual respect from some time now (and 20syl has been featured on our comp series before) so it made sense to feature a little unreleased exclusive from the upcoming AlttA project. We are also working with On and On Records on a joint release of belgium producer Pomrad. 

As always "Spring In Jakarta" will be a free DLL with free cassette tape copies available from selected retailer. Also be on the lookout for the limited t-shirt + tape combo we did together with the homies from inflammable.com

Approaching its 10-year anniversary, the Los Angeles based label Young Art Records was launched by recording artist TOKiMONSTA in 2014. It debuted with the release of her mini album Desiderium, which showcase features from Anderson. Paak and Joyce Wrice. Additional collaborations from her Young Art releases include Ambré, Earthgang, Ryuichi Sakamoto, VanJess, The Drums, Isaiah Rashad, Yuna and Selah Sue. TOKiMONSTA’s goal was to create a platform that would help nurture the creative output of talented artists, using her own releases to solidify the foundation of the label. Young Art has gone on to release the Juno-nominated album Play with the Changes by Canadian R&B icon Rochelle Jordan, Svengali by Cakes da Killa (rated 4/5 stars by The Guardian), and Grammy-nominated “Best Electronic” album Lune Rouge by TOKiMONSTA. The label’s roster boasts Montreal producer CRi, Keys N Krates, Daktyl, Biicla, Rush Davis, Kingdom, Gavin Turek, Benni Ola, bad tuner and more. Since the label’s inception, TOKiMONSTA has released two full-length albums, numerous singles and remixes. Her first original single of 2023, “Eats The Tale” with Rochelle Jordan, released 8/10 on Young Art Records.
