As a man, we constantly have sex on our minds. In some cases it cannot be helped, but we make it more difficult for boys to be boys. Men will over sexualize everything. We objectify women as trophies to prove to other men we are man enough, and even more manly at times. Incels even have the nerve to call women shallow when they only care about a man for their looks. The hypocrisy is almost a joke at this point

Young men will often mock or ridicule other young men for being a virgin. If every single man around you holds sex as this end all be all, it's appropriate to assume, that young man will too. And he may feel inadequate compared to his peers who have lost their virginity. Who can that young man talk to when he feels self conscious or less than? I'll bet he won't feel safe talking to other men

Men are predisposed to hold everything inside. We hold ourselves to a high standard, but why? No one expects you to be superman. Yet we often struggle to open up because of the pain we cause to each other at a young age

This ideology that men must do 1 2 and 3, but never a b or c is outdated. We know how shitty and alone life can feel. So why must we take away what little happiness the few of us still have?

Be a good soldier. Don't make a scene. Maybe there's a blend for me specifically as a man and an asian american, but we are told to suck it up. To be productive. Grow a pair. Man up. But humans are social creatures and we cannot soley rely on women to fill that need. So, we turn to the next best thing. Drugs, alcohol, niccotine and porn. Some of us will get desperate enough to try anything to fill this hole in our hearts. And I see my former classmates, youngings, and even myself struggle every day with addiction in the hopes we live to quit another day.

everyone has to have an opinion these days. Like I said earlier, men love to punch down, especially when you're too broken to fight back. Why must we criticize stranger's relationships when we have no idea what sort of dynamic or underlying conditions are at play? Why do we laugh when a man cries but not a woman? Why do we enjoy and relish in mentally breaking our fellow man?

The vicious cycle of toxic masculinity, is that we stopped being role models towards each other. We became rabid dogs fighting for whatever rotting scraps are left. There was no sex ed in my schools outside of abstinence. They told the girls at my school they would go to hell if they ever had sex with a condom. Repubican evangelicals are single handedly ruining whatever safety nets we have left. We all know what it's like to have testosterone surging through our veins. Why shouldn't we help the next generation so they can learn socially appropriate behavior and learn how to control their urges? This is how we reduce the amount of rapes and SA's on women, yet we don't. Why? Do we not want to leave the world a better place for our kids?

To any young men out there, don't let toxic men's old school ideology stop you from achieving happiness. If you want to wear a dress or makeup, you should be able to without being bullied or beated to a pulp. A dress is an article of  clothing. Earings are metal with polished stones. Make up is just a powder. Life is too harsh and short to be walking on egg shells around every man you encounter

We don't properly educate our young men about socially acceptable behavior when it comes to sex. It's like we're in a time capsule from the 1950's. In the age of the internet, we can no longer pretend that the issue doesn't exist. We have to grow up and stop being imature when it comes to sex ed. We should be supplying young men with the tools they need to be successful in life. Instead, we throw them in the deep end. If they swim, they live to fight another day. The one's who sink? Collateral damage. Better yet, we use the internet to expedite their pain for twitter likes. Thoughts and Prayers never did shit for anyone but the dead.

I really fucked with Young Thug's outro on Childish's "This is America" when he said "You just a big dawg, yeah I kenneled him in the backyard. No, probably ain't life to a dog, for a big dog." While I won't pretend we're speaking on the same subject matter, I think there is significant overlap between "bad apple" police officers and toxic masculinity. As well as this feeling, arguably a high on testosterone, where you feel unstoppable. While Thug may be speaking about his personal experience as an African American, I can't help but wonder if there is some bleed over when it comes to our societies ever-changing view on the role of men. How almost "animal like" men can be when they commit crimes, yet we, as a society, do nothing to educate or teach life skills or "new tricks." And like the saying goes, "there's no such thing as a bad dog, just a bad owner."
