Close yr eyes & hold tight, if we make it out alive... Pick the locks & run, an exodus. Who cares if the bread gets done? You got me leery of escape routes & I’m turning red like an exit sign. You got me listening for sighing through the walls, trying to decode the message in every breath. You got me reaching for unseen hands & I swear there’s fingers down my spine. You got me! I always saw myself a stout thing, a devout thing. But I see now I’m fragile & prone to crack. A finger along a length of glass, spiderwebbed. Like a cypress in mourning, if you cut a branch will it grow back? We met. A tete a tete. Whispered a secret. I don’t know what this is on my tongue but I like the taste of it. Is it fate or the echo of our feet on empty city streets? Contact, a spark to light the dark. Have we lost our way, or in finding it have we been found out? Like pinholes in velvet, I’m wrapped in a cold cloak of stars. New sights on the horizon bathed in new light, for new eyes. It’s just that I move so fast, the heavens they seem slow. But I wanted to go, leave my home, shoot into the unknown. From the corner of my vision, a ghost in the periphery haunting the spaces between places, made flesh by a shutter click. Should we lift the veil for a moment to take picture of this?
