Gospel hip-hop artist, Young Hen, Henderrius Whittsett by birth, has been making a big impact on today’s young generation. Young Hen began rapping at the age of 12 after doing a small tape recorded ballet for a class project. After a short period time of trying secular music, he noticed that people had more respect for his music ministry. As a result, he began creating Christian versions of secular beats like My Jesus (My dougie), Bless me down (Wipe me down) as well as others. He then moved on to share his gift at various small events, such as 1st Priority and in his youth ministry at Guiding Light Church. In the fall of 2009, Young Hen coordinated his own event called Youth On Fire at a local church in McCalla. It grew and became a fresh way to spread not only his music but the word of God. 
 In the summer of 2010, Young Hen was introduced to Derek Farrior, Producer and CEO of Floodland Recordings. Shortly after that, he began recording with Floodland and on August 20, 2010 Young Hen released his 1st mixtape called Generation Flip. The CD featured fellow gospel hip-hop artist L.P. Like Paul, G.I. Magus, and Major. Once his CD was completed, it was as if new doors began to open for him. He has traveled to New Orleans, Montgomery, Selma, and Tuscaloosa and all over the City of Birmingham to minister through his gospel rap artistry. The peak of Young Hen’s early career was when he had the privilege to open up for someone one he always wanted to meet, Canton Jones, singer and CEO of CAJO Records. 
 But Young Hen’s career is nowhere near being finished. As he continues to minister at events and spread God’s word through his music, he keeps his focus on finishing his college education and his desire to get his generation on the right track. His vision is clear and simple: to live more like Christ and to tell young people that they can do it too; that it’s time they make a bold stand as a young generation of believers.
