There are letters and then there are “red letters”. In the New Testament we find the words of Jesus written in red text. In a similar fashion, I imagine God writing this letter to me and the text is bleeding red. It’s bleeding, so it stains the paper and it’s hardly legible. The original version of this song, which was written years ago, was sort of a confession. There were things in my life that were just eating me up and I wanted to write this letter to God. In 2021, I took that same confession and just revised it. I didn’t like how the story came out, so I broke it down and wrote it in a different way. I’m wandering, squandering, lying, searching for answers in all the wrong places. Beloved is God who has always been with me even in my darkest hours. I’m not going to lie. This song is sad and it’s genuine. It’s real and it’s noteworthy. There is someone out there who needs to hear this message of forgiveness, hope, love, and reconciliation.

“With Me (My God Reigns)” comes straight from the heart and uses the biblical reference Isaiah 43. As one anonymous reviewer writes, “imagination aside this is a great song with a calm to it with a good combination of drums and guitar. The lyrics are really good for this song as well. The lyrics are really meaningful and tells us a story. Lyrics like these make the song enjoyable and it makes me want to listen to it again.” The song begins with a unique intro that one wouldn’t normally find when listening to a “Christian” song. After the digital beeps and boops, the song opens up powerfully with guitars, drums, and bass. “With Me” has a distinct taste that is acquired, but the tune grows on you. Give it time and it will grow on you too. “It is the song that changes the stereotype of the religious songs” (anonymous, 2015).

The EP opens up with “Closer”, a soft-British rock beat that captures the listener from beginning to end. The lyrics speak about the struggling Christian finding their way around in this walk of life. God is calling their name through the crowd, out of the darkness, and directly at them. He is beckoning the lost children to turn from the ways of this world and to turn to Him. To run to Him. To fall into His arms. The bridge takes a drastic right turn talking about how God is removing the old and replacing it with the new. I use the vivid picture of a hurricane moving violently and powerfully as it destroys everything in its path, because sometimes we need God to move like a hurricane and destroy our old lives so that we can rebuild a new life in Him. The vocals are also easy on the ears and hooks the listener on every word.

Getting back to my roots as a singer-songwriter writing deep and meaningful songs for the world to hear.

This song was originally done as part of an EP a little over three years ago and sometimes a song or two will always "haunt" you. Unending Praises haunts me everyday in the most humbling manner possible. There is something beautiful and mesmerizing about starting a song with a void and then letting it give way to light and joyfulness. One anonymous reviewer writes, “This is a religious song that gives credit to God and I love the fact that I can worship my Father through this song. That literally brings the song to life and there is not one thing I would change.” “Unending Praises” sticks to a traditional sense of what most churches would typically find in their set list rotation, but the one thing that stands out from the rest is that this song is a direct response to God’s greatness. I take the Book of Genesis and create lyrics that speak about how Great my God is. He is alive. He is real. He is God.
