@djaptone has had a killer year since unveiling his disco-tinged moniker Michael The Lion, contributing to a sold out 12" on Soul Clap Records with his track "Funk Train", releasing his own jam-packed 12" of edits on Brooklyn's Razor-N-Tape, and starting one of the city's hottest parties at new venue Franky Bradley's, HOOKED. Michael blessed the airwaves on Saturday afternoon with a slew of feel good disco vibes that you need to hear!

The 2015 Electronic Music Marathon was a 78 hour NONSTOP DJ marathon bringing together a diverse group of some of the best DJ talent in Philly to raise money for Mural Arts & WKDU. Jay Fay is 18 years old and has already rocked shows with Drake, Steve Aoki, Wale and Hood Internet, to name just a few. The St. Louis producer / dj / percussionist has many styles, from House and Kuduro to Dancehall and Hip-Hop. Bonkers is his debut EP, showcasing the genre he's become best known for, Moombahton. Not regular slowed-down, mashed-up edits, but fully evolved original anthems with insane laser synths, dubstep growls and wobbles, electro bass and percussive trickery. Did we mention huge build ups? Got those too! Support from Dillon Francis, Toddla T, Crookers, Munchi, Congorock, Tittsworth? Yes! 

Bonkers is dropping February 14 on Young Robots.

Philadelphia's music scene has always been known as a "barrel of crabs," a swarm of aggressive talents ripping each other to shreds trying to climb towards the light.  It doesn't have to be that way.  

In the spirit of "Brotherly Love," Philly's finest emerging dance band, Nicos Gun has linked arms with one of the city's most forward-thinking dance labels, Young Robots, to create "We Could Die," a retrofuturistic remix single that puts the 215's best foot forward.

The original version of "We Could Die" chugs with Miami Vice-worthy synth-tensity, with a dose of vocals that brim with youthful nihilism and sex appeal.  

Young Robots' label co-chief DJ Apt One (of Philadelphyinz and RCMP fame) double dips with two remixes.  First, a re-imagination that drenches the vocals in a sprinkle of Purple Rain, then a deconstructive, funky "Disco Dub" that teases the listener with seductively funky disco bass until it bursts with dancefloor intensity.  

Vancouver's Kutcorners brings a smooth shuffle to his mix, with warm synths that make you want to put the top down and spin down South Street.  

Lastly, Peter Dragontail, adds not only a remix, but also contributes the cover art in his 215-famous signature style.  Like his breakout single "Crazy Bout You" (f/ Maggie Horn), Peter's remix has a slow burn, and he uses vocals to cast an eerie ambiance over his driving 3AM electro burner.

Young Robots and Nicos Gun will curate a release event at Kung Fu Necktie in Philly on April 20th, 2012 at DJ Apt One's monthly disco night "The Ball."  The night features Nicos Gun, Dragon King, Tunde Olaniran & Miz Korona (Exchange Bureau, Detroit), Peter Dragontail, DJ Apt One and DJ Bruce.
