Hello again house fans, 

For the past little while I took some time to do some reflecting and "soul searching" with some of the things going on in my life at the time.  So this mix is from the heart!  I came up with this collaboration that plays the ups and downs in any soul search, guy, girl, young, old.  We are always on the search for soul!

It starts out with a little tribal afro section.  I then bring a track in with a sexy Saxophone that will be sure to bring back some fond memories as it did for me. Then drops the soul funky house that always brings a smile to my face.  Kinda reminds me of the music from the big band, swing era of the 1930's and my favorite TV Show Boardwalk Empire.

Then I slow it down a little bit with a nice house track of Sade - Kiss of Life and somehow Rihanna - Where Have You Been, creeps into the mix.  I'm not really sure how it happened but Rihanna is in there to mix it up a little bit, as I never like to keep my music the same. If this was boxing, that would have been a left uppercut!
 
I'm always evolving... on the move, in my search for Soul!

YBD -Soul Search -  Part 1

Hello again house fans, 

As you already know I like all types of house music and I like to mix it up a little bit in each of my DJ Sets. I named this release "RISK" because it's on the opposite spectrum of what I normally do. Dark heavy beats I is my forte but seeing as how the weather is warming up and Calvin Harris "summer" to Avicci "Wake me up" is what's playing a lot on my stereo these days, I had to play this one for ya'll

I start with LIL John little "turn down for what" and then it starts getting a little interesting as I start an epic journey into some fist pumping funky progressive house. This mix reminds me of some of the crazy Progressive/Trance parties we used to go to. But track 4 Illian Bluestone - Big Ben is my favorite track in this one, as it starts so calmly with the Catholic Choir vocal samples then hits you hard with a driving bass-line. You are gonna want to turn this one up. Its almost a sin to keep the volume down low. 

Lets take the risk and blow those speakers up!

  Hello house family,  

I know its been a little while since my last session but Ive come up with something crazy for you this time. 
I took samples from different sources and blended an eclectic mix of deep funky house for ya`ll.  My YBD Essential mix has got the strings of a violin to heavy dark bass kicks and tribal notes as well, I spared nothing in this one folks.  I hope you enjoy!

YourBoy Drew is a Toronto based House DJ and music producer who has had a passion for music since the young age of 12. At that time, he was matching records by hand on old house turntables using 1990’s hip hop and rap classics like Naughty By Nature Beatnuts, Wu-Tang Clan, KRS One. This inspired a lifelong passion that transformed YourBoyDrew into a preeminent DJ who is rising in popularity.

As a DJ, his passion is house music although hip hop will fovever be in his blood. He has played at venues in downtown Toronto and all over the GTA, inspiring fans with his quick thinking and tantalizing beats. Known for his aggresive, dark, and heavy mixed style, YourBoyDrew also knows how to liven up each show with unique, fun, and quirky beats that make a crowd jump.

Perhaps what sets him apart the most is that he doens’t use Traktor, Serrato, or any programs typically utilized by DJs. Instead, he is a hands on DJ that plays by sound and feel alone with no assistance from computers to mix. Essentially, he has full control over his set,  playing with all the controls, echo, flanger, and drump to try anything and everything to make his music more interesting and engaging. Some of his primary DJ inspirations include Magda, Ritchie Hawtin, Ben Klock, and Marco Carola.

In the studio, he is currently focusing on music production and creating new music for other DJs to use all while pursuing his own passions and DJ career. In the past he has created mixtapes that included soul, funky house, and even hip hop mixed with dubstep. It’s this willingness to push and stretch preconceived genres of music and embrace musical differences that has this DJ on the rise to stardom.


Some of his future plans include touring in the US and in Europe at incredible parties in Ibiza, the Boiler Room in Berlin, the Ultra Music Festival, and Time Warp. 
To suggest he’s a DJ on the rise would be obvious, but the best evidence of his rising stardom is to make sure you hear him with your own ears.
