From polyrhythmic minimal to dubby rollers, off-grid psychedelia to deep percussive swings — the compilation holds no strict signature, but everything moves with intention. This is dance music made by those who live it, for those who listen closely.

"Based in Los Angeles, Rigopolar is a space disco producer with a deep love of '80s synth sounds. There are five themed jams here; both "Sistema Lunar I" and "Sistema Lunar II" both go to town on moody arpeggiation, the former is deliciously fuzzed-out warm Italo (think Skatebard at his deepest), whilst the latter opts for an accelerated hiNRG route a la Alden Tyrell in his prime. Elsewhere "Sistema Lunar III" delves into eerie suspension like a housier Red Axes and "Sistema Lunar IV" combines movie samples with raw, looped early house grooves. Finally V wraps things up with some melancholic EDM balladry in the style of Kavinsky or M83. Classy stuff"

Optimo Music is delighted to continue its fruitful relationship with The Golden Filter with the release of this fantastic 4 track 12” EP.

We always prefer our artists to speak for themselves and avoid bullshit PR hype so here is what they have to say about this EP - 

We’re quite agnostic, and unreligious, but if there is any vibes associated with the EP (and maybe all of our music) it is very Buddhist in its ideas. Mindful. Aware of impermanence.

The whole EP is about being with the one(s) you love when everything else around you breaks down. Looking inward, with pure love, in the hope to radiate outward, rather than pushing for a fight, or running away. Recorded, written, and produced in isolation by Stephen and Penelope on our own in East London Studio space.

The EP starts with the song “End Of Times”  which is a dramatic, Shangri-Las influenced take on feeling powerless in a chaotic world, but still high on love. Happiness can be found in analog reverb. This is followed by “Serenity”, a hard and tranquil meditation of past + future.

Side 2  leads with “Heart Control”, with a slight nod to Pink Floyd.  A nine minute plea to ourselves to keep it all focused and under control… The EP closes with  “Darkness Falls”. The lyrics for this came from an apocalyptic dream that Penelope had, and wrote down in the morning. the music is 100% purely modular, er, except for the tiny bits of guitar at the end.

Released on vinyl (and digital) on November 10th 2017. Distributed by Kompakt. There will also be a limited edition 12" of dub mixes of the track End Of Times released early December.

Fade to Swing EP is a collaboration between Moscow-based singer and musician Poko Cox (POEXXXALI) and AVEC's boss and music producer Maxim Nazarov. The title song "Fade to Swing" tells a sensually seductive story about vampiric attraction and fulfilment of animal instincts within the sleazy context of a night club. In 1993, at the age of ten, Maxim has attended Michael Jackson's "Dangerous" show in Moscow. Music and the scale of production made an enormous impact on him and many years later he was able to reconstruct those memories with Poko in "Fade to Swing." "Alienation" - the second single on the EP, is a spooky r'n'b/club hybrid with beautiful chimes, deep subs and subtle Art-of-Noise vibes. Poko's soothing multilayered vocals create a dreamy twilight atmosphere and take the listener on a journey through mild paranoia and disassociation triggered by mass media. AVEC's own synth wizard Alien Delon (LAVA, POEXXXALI) gives "Fade to Swing" a four-on-the-floor Belgian new beat makeover, while Moscow's Aktau deliver a squelchy house number with live drums and bouncy bass-lines. And to mark the 10-year anniversary of Poko Cox's first hit "Culture War," Maxim Nazarov has upgraded the song with vintage EBM frequencies making this 12" record perfectly suitable for the dance floor.
