Following our good friend Lee Burridge past the sunset and well into the day as sandstorms whipped past us in the background we stood amongst friends and strangers (who are just friends we’ve yet to meet) and we danced and celebrated together, participating in the beauty of a shared moment that can only be held in our memories as a mere shadow of what we truly experienced… What an honor to be part of it all. "Who was playing at 5am in the chill-out room?" was something we heard repeatedly after the Cityfox-Life and Death showcase this past Halloween. Well, it was none other than Maxi Storrs. Already on our short list of artists we sought to feature, his set that morning as a guest sealed the deal to host him more formally. While he resides in Istanbul, as a founding member and resident of Suma Beach, he's a man of the world, having spent significant time shaping his art in the underground of San Francisco, founding Dusty Eardrums in Goa & Thailand, with residences in Berlin, and inspired by the nature of beautiful Vermont. And it's a varied perspective that comes through in his music, as rich as his travels: lush, warm and inviting, demonstrated through this set. We can't wait for him to soundtrack the dawn of a new year in our River Room.

Papa & Soul - Bubble Gum

Elemental Vol. 1 moves through earth, air, fire, and water not as metaphors but as emotional states. The songs drift like weather systems, mixing tenderness with atmosphere - acoustic guitars and field-warm vocals meeting the pulse of understated techno rhythms. The production is deliberately porous: wood and wire breathing alongside soft synths and spectral drum-machine traces. It's an "acoustic techno" album in the sense that rhythm and resonance share the same dirt. The songs carry the physical textures of wind in rafters, gravel underfoot, or rain on a roof, yet they shimmer with digital light. This meeting of folk intimacy and electronic timbres gives the album its peculiar gravity - part back-porch confession, part after-hours heartbeat.

Lyrically, Elemental Vol. 1 abandons conventional pop architecture. Instead of verse–chorus–bridge repetition, each piece unfolds as a field poem - free-form, continuous, and responsive to its own inner weather. The writing treats structure as tide rather than grid: refrains return when they need to, not when they're told to. This openness lets the language breathe in sync with the natural imagery that drives it - storms, light, stone, silence - and invites listeners to inhabit the songs as evolving spaces rather than predictable forms. Across the various mixes of its six song poems - We Learn the Sky, Don't Sightsee This Heart, Be a Storm in Me, Til the Heat Is Gone, You Happen Like Weather, and Wild Gifts - the album traces the cycles of intimacy and impermanence, finding in their motion the same quiet power that turns seasons, wheels, and hearts.
