"Hallucinate" was officially released on November 25th, 2016 through MGM Distribution. 

Melbourne based electronic singer-songwriter and producer, Youthfire, shares stories about his personal life through compositions that have a warped sense of New Wave, 80’s nostalgia. Having spent the last three years writing, refining, and crafting his songs from his bedroom studio after relocating from Brisbane to Melbourne, Youthfire will release new single ‘Hallucinate’ via MGM on November 25.
 
Written after a breakup, Youthfire wanted to write a song that reflected his my own personal experiences of coming out, whilst exploring themes around transition and evolution, and the importance of being true to yourself.

“Hallucinate is a song that I’ve lived with for the last two years. At the time, I began watching every single LGBTIQA+ movie that I could find. I stumbled across the film “Edge Of Seventeen” (1998) and related with the main protagonist and the experiences he went through in coming out. This had a profound affect on me, inspiring me to write the track.”

"Puppet" is the title track of Youthfire's debut EP release which will be released in November 2017.

Written, recorded and produced with Carmichael leading vocals, synths and electric guitar, ‘Puppet’ also features the emphatic strings of cellist Kathryn Mckee, and Jacob de Weger on synth bass in a sonic landscape mixed by Tristan Hoogland (Woodes, Mid Ayr, Ballpark Music) and mastered by Matthew Agoglia (Spoon, The Gorillaz, Arctic Monkeys) at The Ranch Mastering.

"Lift Me Up," is now available for pre-order. All of the songs on this record were written over the last 6 years where I share my personal coming out journey.

I wanted to open up and to allow myself to be as vulnerable as possible, because, for such a long time I felt that I had to hide apart of myself in order to survive. I think that's part of the reason why I wanted to create something that is so fiercely and unapologetically honest. I don't want to hide myself any longer. I want to feel. To be loved for who I am. 

It’s safe to say that this record is so personal and so very close to my heart and I could not be prouder of it.

Featuring Melbourne rapper Diemne, backing vocals of long time friends and collaborators Abraham Tilbury and Mo•Louie, and strings by accomplished cellist Kathryn Mckee, ‘Emerging’ is a story of love, discovery and triumph over hardship. Inspired by the documentary ‘Chris and Don’ and paying homage to its protagonists Christopher Isherwood and his much younger lover, artist Don Bachardy, Youthfire has created a world of wonder and awe on ‘Emerging’. Reimagining this tale of a lifelong relationship between two characters, ‘Emerging’ is an honest and touching account of Carmichael’s own self-discovery.

It’s nothing personal, it’s just drag. “Nice Boys” is an exploration into the beauty of queerness 🌈 connection 💖 disconnection 🙅 and timeless desires.

This song was inspired by the documentary “100 Men” which reflects on 40 years of queer history. In the documentary filmmaker, Oremland, reads out a classified ad from an old, 1980’s newspaper: “One nice boy wants another nice boy, to go to bed with and do everything else with.” This became the central motif for this song.

Blended through the past and present, “Nice Boys” forms an audio and video collage expressing the bittersweet sentiment behind the search for “one nice boy.”
