"Summer at Land's End" is the 4th LP from The Reds, Pinks & Purples, Glenn Donaldson’s solo kitchen pop "band." Since 2019 The Reds, Pinks & Purples have built an obsessive, ever-growing following by combining regular vinyl releases with occasional drops of new songs on Bandcamp. 2021's "Uncommon Weather" was something of a breakthrough and the brilliantly ambitious "Summer At Land's End" builds on it artistically in just about every way. It's expansively cinematic and atmospheric, while still being full of well-crafted, catchy melodic pop tunes. "Let's Pretend We're Not in Love" is a perfect example of this balancing act, an exercise in pop economy that sounds so immediately 'right' that it seems destined for a thousand mix tapes. Lush yet intimate, and redolent of both Glenn's beloved SF fog and the 80s/90s pop that he loves so deeply.

Young Sad Lovers

The band was created in 2019 in Athens, Greece. “It was a matter of life and death, to write songs about the way we felt. Sometimes, when you are in your late 20’s - mid 30’s and life starts to hit you with the rawness of the “real world” you feel so alone, you are about to break. We are just that, oppressed musical souls that never let go of their art, to endure the boss that fired them for no apparent reason, the friends who turned their back on them, the ships that sailed; the realization that whether you are the ship or the shore, does not really make a difference on how depressing a separation can be. We made music, to survive.  And now we have decided to stop keeping it to ourselves.”

Initially three, with George Piaditis on lead guitars, Dean Jola on drums/ vocals and Joseph Powell on lead vocals and guitars, Youth Valley entered the studio to record their first three studio tracks in the form of an EP. George left the band soon after that, Joseph and Dean continued. Thus, Youth Valley EP and the music video for the song ‘Young Sad Lovers’ broke the surface in 2020.

Youth Valley’s style revolves around genres like new wave, post punk and 80’s indie rock like ‘the Cure’ or ‘the Smiths’ dressed in a more contemporary shoegaze guitar-based coat, inspired by bands like ‘DIIV’.
