Exclusive: Jamaimoi - Hardcore Definition (Matthieu Faubourg Remix)

Enjoying the Portuguese lifestyle Parisian artist Jamaimoi traded the French metropolis for a life in Lisbon, which climate- and geographic-induced supports his preferences of surfing, producing and playing music on the local beaches as well as wine-bars. The latest results of Jamaimoi's Portuguese adventure called Frenchghettotouch can be found on barbecue and includes remixes from Selfhood and Matthieu Faubourg. The latter took on remix duties for Hardcore Defintion and delivers a remix as smooth as sunny as perfect as Jamaimoi himself would have done it under Lisbon sun. However the Vienna-citizen added his trademark sound, namely a rather housey bass line to the track, and reworks the Jamaimoi's vocal sample of Hardcore Definition to make it fit into his own sound spectrum and make it an element of the track itself rather than a standing out vocal that's put over an instrumental. The result is a well-defined and smooth House track, whose intriguing dreaminess – evoked by the reworked vocal – makes one hope for better days, may that on a Lisbon beach or in Vienna.

We're super excited to premiere the latest track from LPM, as his debut 'Voices' EP nears its full release on Monki's brilliant '&Friends' this Friday. The release also features a very special remix from @known-as-dave aka SHEE, which we premiere tomorrow.

Today, however, it's all about the fast rising Dublin producer LPM, as we premiere the sun drenched, 80s infused Italo jam, 'A Beach On Mars', over on our SoundCloud page.

The EP delivers two original peak time LPM tracks, as he explores Italo disco on the Voices EP, with glimmering pads and ethereal organ flavours, whilst the B side 'A Beach On Mars' transports the listener to otherworldly territories, boasting celestial strings and breakdowns setting the scene for Martian landscapes and beyond. 

Drawing the EP to a close, SHEE transforms Voices into a techno infused slammer, with crisp percussion and a hair raising BPM, underpinning the original’s Italo groove. We will premiere SHEE's track tomorrow afternoon.

It’s his eclectic drums, bone-cutting bass lines and toe tapping melodies that
mark LPM as one of the latest up and comers to break through from the
Emerald Isle’s flourishing pool of electronic talent. Being championed by Monki on her &Friends imprint, LPM is now set to earn even wider recognition, marking only the beginning for this firm one to watch.

Straight out of Sligo, Ireland, Brame & Hamo have expertly produced some of the most effortless house music of the last few years. Following acclaimed releases on labels such as Dirt Crew and Heist, the duo now take full control with their debut release on a fresh, personal imprint, simply titled ‘Brame & Hamo’. 
B&H001, ‘Trants’, is a versatile three-tracker that expertly captures the light and shade of the duo’s production pallette. Opening the EP, title-track ‘Trants’ (say it aloud to trace the inspiration), provides a hugely satisfying denouement. Awash in a retro-futurist haze, flavours of early bleep techno, dusty drums and yes, outright trance flavours provide the ingredients for a euphoria-inducing trip that culminates in a melodic call to arms-in-the-air. Things get much tougher throughout ‘Hurt You’, which begins with an immediate strike of chunky percussion, jacking Chi-town rhythms and an unapologetically menacing organ line. As the requisite vocal sample delivers emotive threat, the mood only gets darker still, delivering something akin to an outsider house rendition of a lost Dance Mania cut. Finally, providing a soft landing with an early-doors on-the-floor heater, ‘Clarence’ lives up to it’s ‘Smooth Mix’ subtitle, as a lounging piano line gently gives way to vibrant sax and a soothing female vocal sample, while still maintaining a precise and irresistible groove for the club. Expanding seamlessly on their reputation as DJs and producers with an instinctive understanding of the genre, B&H001 is as soulful, tough and deeply satisfying of a house record as anything in Brame & Hamo’s already impressive musical repertoire.
