# 163 Prod me with your loving hands

I think my favorite part of this recording is the first time we sang through stanza 3. One of the sisters brought her blood brother, who I think was an unbeliever; he came doubtful, yet open. During stanza 1 or 2, I saw him slightly smiling while singing. Maybe he had already touched the Lord by then, but let me just say it'd be really hard not to open up your being to the Lord if you were an unbeliever in this room. I think he either received and enjoyed the Lord or even enjoyed the Lord's presence without receiving Him yet. Hallelujah! I'd be surprised not to see him there again.

I’m learning how to spend time with the Lord.
Beginning to believe not how I feel.
But trusting in the Lord’s accomplishments,
  His sovereignty. (Proclaim: “Yes, Lord, I see“)
Why are you still defeated, little one?
As if I’m not the all-inclusive One.
Believing that I am, just look away,
  Away to Me.

We certainly will fail time after time.
At times we’re too ashamed to turn again,
Just stop and breathe yourself out on the Lord,
  And breathe Him in. (Proclaim: “Oh, Lord!“)
When there’s no rest in me, He is my rest.
When there’s no peace around, His peace is best.
We know Him through His word, the Spirit brings
  Reality.

Present your body, in His presence stay.
He’s faithful and adept all to arrange.
He’s writing His own history today,
  Give Him the way. (Proclaim: “Lord, today!“)
He’s always there to give us what we need.
Our oldness turns to newness—He’s the Spring!
He turns our deadness to enlivening
  By dispensing.

So put your introspective mind at ease,
He calls us, “Look away and feast with Me!”
Don’t try to analyze so many things.
  Love and believe. (Proclaim: “Yes, we believe!“)
So call on Him, your open spirit bring,
Not busy with so many outward deeds.
His Body’s rich supply and covering
  Will guard our being.
5.
Don’t be afraid to give yourself to Him.
Remaining whole and guarded, we miss Him.
The Body’s life supply the members bring,
  While opening. (Proclaim: “We open, Lord!“)
I need the other members; they need me.
We take the loving way excellingly.
His love is the unique enduring thing
  To make us Him.

I felt I was missing out on something; I took a road to a distant place.

these thoughts draw my heart so tenderly.


Father, you know, all that you gave me– is gone. I spent it the world to see.
It’s joys and pleasures seduced and lured me, but lasting joy’s still eluding me.
And so I muse on your house, dear Father: both peace and joy are abundant there.
Around me here I seem to see only misery-
The joy from home’s but a memory. 


Father, surely you know of famine. I am so hungry it gnaws within.
I could eat food from this filthy pig pen. 
We all are dying here in our sin.
But father, why should I let this happen? Your house is so full of wealth and food.
Even the servants serving you, have more than I do.
O father, I must return to you!


Father, you know that I’m so weary- beat up and filthy- yet now I come.
I’m full of shame for the years I’ve wasted. I’m now not worthy to be your son.
But is that you, father, I see running? From far away you did notice me.
How can you still embrace me now, kiss me tenderly? 
Compassion like this, I’ve never seen.


Father, you know the depth of my sin against the heavens and before you.
Unexpectedly, you have received me. I hear no judgement- but just mercy.
Bring out the best robe! Bring him the sandals! And put the ring on my lost son’s hand.
Bring out the calf for us to eat and let’s have a feast! Come now rejoice with me merrily!
