For all the wonderfully subtle shell-breaking he did on his full-length, Mark E falls back on old, slow habits for his new single, “The Day.” And welcomely, we might add. Pitching things down to a basement lounge floor crawl, the Midlands DJ/producer wraps his always chugging kicks and snares in serpentine synth-bass, jazzy, tripleted hi-hats, and moaning, wordless soul vocals. Its grasp is tantric—hinting coyly at ecstatic release, but never fully delivering. For the vinyl junkies that bought STONE BREAKER and missed out on it the first time around (it was absent from that version), this release should be a no brainer.

And the oft imitated, never replicated Prins Thomas shows up on the flip for a (naturally) eleven-minute revamp of “The Day,” livening up the bass and drum patterns, adding in strings, piano, guitar, organ, and ending up with something that totally could have emanated from a Camaro at some point in the early seventies. (Albeit, one owned by someone with interest in eleven-minute instrumentals.) It even has a fade out!

Future Avenue presents the latest release from long-time label family friend MartyOn, the Soul Train EP. The Argentinian born producer delivers the original version of Soul Train, a deep and melodic track that carries his signature touch and warm production style.

The release is completed by three remixes from a diverse group of artists. Edu Russo brings a smooth and atmospheric interpretation, Dion Paola AU adds a dynamic rework with driving energy, while Hans Gerd & Cipriani join forces for a collaborative version that blends groove with emotional depth.

The third and final package of remixes of Yuksek’s recent ’Nosso Ritmo’ LP on Partyfine arrives with fantastic interpretations from the likes of Rubin Steiner, JKRIV, CLAAP and Mark Lower and more.

Yuksek’s fourth album was another widescreen, multi-genre offering that has already given rise to two great packages including tracks by Kraak & Smaak, BOSQ, Mighty Mouse and Chloé. Now veteran French radio host, bassist Platinum Records associate Rubin Steiner kicks off this last instalment with his super smooth version of ‘Hashram Peplum.’ It’s deep, far sighted and a gentle groove with lush sax drifting up top amongst cosmic melodies.

Label regular and revered melodic maestro You Man flips ‘Cadenza’ into a warm, colourful house track with catchy riffs and long legged drums, while Brooklyn-based artist, multi-instrumentalist and co-head of Razor-N-Tape Records JKRIV brings hip swinging disco bliss to his perfectly loose, organic take on ‘The Only Reason.’ Two more
French legends in The Mekanism and Franck Roger then bring their many years of know how to a vital version of ‘Do Beljo’ that brims with golden chords, old school disco house energy and a certain sense of spiritualism that warms the soul.

Another Partyfine regular is CLAAP!, the one-of-a-kind Frenchman supported by artists such as Todd Edwards, Jenifer Cardini and Erol Alkan.
